Item offered outside of ebay

Hi, an item which I want is being sold on ebay on 'buy it now'. I contacted the seller with a 'best offer' (the actual listing didn't have this), the reply I got was my 'best offer' would be accepted and that she would give me her paypal account details for me to pay into!
The seller is quite experienced - she has 100% feedback based on over 1000 feedback.
Not sure what to do, what safeguards do I have if I do it just through paypal (I've tried googling it but still not sure)? What are the potential problems that I could encounter?
Thank you

the same as you might with any internet sale.
buyer beware, springs to mind.
if you stick with ebay your covered by there t&c's, but then the seller will perhaps want the full asking due to them having to pay charges.

In short, you will be protected by PayPal.0 -
I would play dumb and ask her to add a best offer feature as you are not sure how to do it via paypal. She should be able to add it easily.0

Beware? And play dumb? Why? OP, you will be protected by PayPal, but just make sure you don't send the payment as a gift.0

PayPal protection is exactly the same whether you buy on eBay or any other site.
OP you will be perfectly safe using PayPal, as stated already be careful to pay for named goods. It might be she accepted a lower offer as she will avoid eBay fees, if you prefer to go through eBay then be prepared to add the additional 10% costs.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Pay with PayPal, but don't send it as a gift.
Add the link to the auction in the notes bit to link back to it nicely.0 -

You need to pay for example for 'large globe' and send a payment rather than just send a gift. Then if item doesn't arrive or is not as described you have the same protection as on eBay. You must not just pay for 'goods' as it makes is slightly harder to deal with PayPal if it goes wrong.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I can only see these 2 options on the Paypal screen
What are you sending money for?
I'm paying for goods or services
I'm sending money to family or friends
Do I choose the first one 'goods or services' and will it then ask me for more details so that I can specify what it is?0 -
They send you the invoice with the items description.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
