Unlock Help For Mitsubishi Trium Astral

BNU_2
BNU_2 Posts: 505 Forumite
If anyone can help me with information of how to unblock my old but hardly used Mitsubishi Trium Astral from Vodaphone I would be most grateful.

It was supplied by Tiny Computers on Vodaphone and has Vodaphone stamped on the front but 'Googling' has just come up with an expensive Data Cable option & Software.

Is there a remote way of unlocking for free? Or do I need to take it somewhere? Or do I contact Vodaphone? Or do I just scrap it when the credit has run out?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks drahcir. Just going to check I can't get it unlocked locally for the same sort of money first - to save buying a datacable I won't need afterwards. I was hoping it would have an unlock code - but it is probably too old for that.

I have done a bit more research, it is definitely locked, and a shop locally could unlock it for £10 next week when they have their new Mitsubishi software installed. Are there any benefits to buying the cable & doing it myself or would you say just get it done and save the hassle? Would you consider it worthwhile for this phone? Many thanks

I would suggest instead of spending £10 on an old phone you might be better checking out the threads on Grabbit for the Virgin Instore Nokia that can be unlocked via code or have a read at Martin's thread about Granny in the Glove Box (promise its not about hiding your Granny in the glove box :p)

Yes I think you are right. I'm just on Virgin Mobile's site now looking. Was in Virgin yesterday and was rather tempted by the Nokia 2600 with the colour screen, but came away without it because I cannot really justify 'bells & whistles' for an emergency/infrequently used phone! I think I would be better off concentrating on battery life.

i agree with Edinburghlass - the phone can prob be brought 2nd hand for £10ish and maybe already unlocked or on the network you want? better to spend the money towards a new cheap nokia that can be unlocked easier

Thanks. I think I might go for the Nokia 1100 with £15 free airtime from Virgin Mobile. I see that some people on the forum have tried unsuccessfully to unlock after several attempts (with various phones) would this phone be easy to unlock with a code?

Personally I have unlocked a couple of Nokia phones with no problem but if you are unsure you will be helped step by step by drahcir.

Going for the Virgin with £15 air-time means you would have to use up that air-time though, although if its unlocked you can swap about simcards for various uses.

Personally, having used Virgin a few times for new and reconditioned phones I have found their customer service second to none and for that reason alone would recommend them.;)

Well that's good enough for me then!

I intend to use Virgin Mobile for calls, the Free Voicemail will be great because my husband drives for a living and will just let it go to message if he is driving (he says handsfree would be too much of a pain) and the Orange sim mainly for the Film Wednesday offer they have on, and occasional calls to other Orange users - so as long as the Virgin Sim retains the call credits that will be our main provider.

Just checked the reconditioned phones for existing customers and the Nokia 1100 is £9.99 but out of stock at the moment. However, when it says that they very often come quickly back instock.
