    Here's a few highlights-

    1 Valued the (vacant) wrong house in the street, but the key worked!

    2 Accompanied viewing- entered house found lady owner at home in bed sound asleep topless and showing her very nice chests

    3 Accompanied viewing- called husband and he said they were both at work- I walked in to find wife in shower with boyfriend

    4 Accompanied viewing- large country house to meet "Colonel Smith and wife", who it turned out were from Nigeria, and owner's wife was explicit on white English buyers only ( it was the 80's), so they hurried Mummy off to the stables out of the way.

    5 Inspection for alterations in SW3 flat, found husband in gimp outfit on a sex frame and told " oh don't mind him, he's being punished".
    Stop! Think. Read the small print. Trust nothing and assume that it is your responsibility. That way it rarely goes wrong.
    Actively hunting down the person who invented the imaginary tenure, "share freehold";

    They should make a book of these to cheer fed up house viewers up!
  • About a year ago my landlord was selling our shared rental to an investor. Unfortunately the Estate Agent was quite happy to ignore any privacy us tenants were entitled to and on multiple occasions unlocked and opened the door to my room without knocking. The worst time was 8am on the weekend when me and my girlfriend were woken up to them barging into the room with viewers in toe.

    Needless to say, I was not a happy bunny as not once did they give notice they were coming.

    I don't get why they do this. It's awkward for the viewer as well as the tenant.

    God, I could have written that, it was back in my student days and my boyf and I were.. umm.. getting jiggy with it lol. Anyway LA barges in with viewers in toe, just looks at us and says "I'll give you a minute to get dressed" (no apology or anything). They then tried coming back in about 20 seconds later (yeah cos of course people can get dressed that fast!!). Gave them an even bigger eyeful then - didn't even have the luxury of a sheet to cover with!!

    Stupid young me, should have chucked them out soon as they opened my bedroom door (without even knocking!!)!

    We viewed a three bed flat, let to relatives of the landlord who we think might have been trying to obstruct the sale. There was laundry drying everywhere, they had about half a dozen guests over when we visited, and we couldn't see the third bedroom because it was being slept in by a guy who worked night shifts. We told the agent they perhaps ought to have a word with the vendor!

    When we were little kids, my parents were viewing a house for the second time and my brother (about 8), piped up in front of the vendors 'So this is the one with the wallpaper you hate so much!'
