"The person is not making it up"
Of course not, dear.
So which is it?
The bank issued money against a reported-stolen debit card supported by a driving license with the wrong photograph?
The bank issued money against an account which had a debit card reported stolen, using just a driving license with the wrong photograph?
The bank issued money against an account which had no reports against it, using just a driving license with the wrong photograph?
Do any of those sound plausible? What did the bank say (I mean, before the stuff with the passport, which is even less plausible)? Why, whichever of these three highly unlikely things supposedly happened, wasn't the account immediately frozen and marked for review as soon as he reported the incident with the driving license?
And then whether the passport were forged or mis-obtained, it would have taken a few weeks to get, wouldn't it? And then, even if the bank were insane enough to issue money without any account details against a passport, they'll have photocopied it, right? And they'll have CCTV of the transaction? And they'll have, at the very minimum, recorded the passport number?0 -

Security guy...If you have nothing constructive to say, then say nothing.
you obviously think you know it all on security, alas this time you don't.
I think you should re-read my post because you have your information all wrong!!
There was no photo the 1st time...Get your facts correct before you try and demean someone.
god almighty, you would have someone hanging in a noose, with your incorrect reading of information0 -
Surely the cashier would have seen the the person presenting the driving license wasn't the license holder, due to the photograph on the license?!2 angels in heaven :A0

Lisa,
DL was not a photo one. , that is Security guy, who has his info wrong.
at the moment, we know dont know much as the bank will not give out any info due to DP.
As the police did not look into it more last time, this is why we are on here trying to get info on how to move it forward.0 -
Photocard driving licenses were introduced in 1998 so, in order to have a DL without a photo your 'young' friend would have to be older than 33 (and even then the non photo license would have had to be replaced.)Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 -

He doesn't need to know it all, what he posted is more feasable than the obtaining of money in the way you describe and TWICE!
Somebody posted about the Police not being interested, that is also incorrect.
Even if the bank were to issue money from the account, certain security questions would have to be answered, which the information wouldn't be available in a stolen wallet, eg recent transaction, DD's , income etc.0 -

There is no requirement to replace an old style paper driving licence with a photo one provided you haven't moved. I've still got a paper one and last moved in 1995. I have even had to send it off for points to be added but still haven't been asked to change to a photo licence.
I do have to produce my passport as photo ID quite often though so am surprised the bank didn't ask for this first time round.0 -
You still get a paper bit of the license.0

The point Von was making I think is that friend cannot be THAT young if its a paper licence.0
