Jeez, seems like these people need to go on a course themselvesStrange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government0 -
put in a written complain to his boss and the DWP, saying his demaads are making you ill with stress (if this is the case) these people shouldn't be allowed to get away with treating people this way.0

'Requirement to undertake Work Related Activity'
53037 ... 'The claimant cannot be required to: 1) Apply for a job or undertake work, whether as an employee or otherwise'.2) Undergo medical treatment'.
This matches the legislation - http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2011/1349/regulation/3/made
Unfortunately there is nothing within the regulations covering the process of looking for work, Work Programme providers will attempt to get ESA claimants to look at available positions and I can see nothing within the regulations preventing that.0 -
Also, if OP has skills in a particular area, it may be worth looking at People Per Hour/eLance, as it will put them in the position where they can work when it suits them.

To be fair, following an appeal I got put into the support group from the WRAG and I went to one extra appointment with the work advisor who was a new person assigned to me. The previous one was a right b!tch and she left so I was interested in meeting the replacement. Plus I went as a courtesy to tie up the ends and show the appeal notification from the judges. I have not been back since but he did phone me up which is when he asked me what I had done to find work. I told him that I was in the support group so was not required to do so and that I was attempting to sort out the causes of my ill health which my GP had failed to do in many years. My GP had made things much worse.richard9991 wrote: »Didn't know ppl in support group had advisors thought any work activity they done was all voluntary
I have had the job centre phoning me up because they want to see me in a couple of months. She kept repeating that "We are not forcing you to apply for jobs or do any work" which seems to be necessary for them to be seen to be fulfilling their obligations. Therefore it does not seem to matter whether people are in the support group or not because there is still work related activity!0 -

It is quite legal to make ESA claimants do everything but - applying for work, or actually do work.
(there are separate issues about work-related activity that may be work like).
But
seems to go beyond this.He seems to have a bee in his bonnet about pushing me into working 20 hours a week for min wage, but has no idea what I can do safely.
In principle, yes, they can (for example) make you sit there for 8 hours writing application letters for jobs, that are then binned.
If this is a reasonable activity that is likely to make you more likely to obtain work in the future.0 -
why does becoming ill suddendly mean you need help looking for work when you may get well again? these people could be quite able to do this themselves when fit and well, why does the government not better spend peoples taxes than this daft carry on.0

You could apply for any amount of jobs, that doesn't mean you will even get an interview.
Even if you did get one, although you would have to attend, it's not difficult to ensure that you don't get the job is it.0 -

I think the point is, why make these people do this stuff when they have been found unable to work, if you pass the ESA test trust me you are not well, why do this !!!! when it's wasting the ill persons time and the employer's time, and as said how says these people can not look for and find a job when they are well enough to do so...fact is the government are treating these people as not wanting to work, so believe they need to be hounded and not left alone and that by doing so this will make them want to work, they seem to forget these people have already been found not fit to work, it would be funny if it wasn't dealing with ill people and costing so much money.0
