"all customers will be better off"
I'd love to see Barclaycard justify why I'm better off with this guff compared to my old Egg Money card that gave me 1% cashback on everything, insurances etc.
So they're paying my (reduced) cashback monthly instead of annually, whoop-de-do.0 -
So I'll be getting a Visa Card and an Amex Card to replace my Mastercard?
That'll be interesting. Not sure about simpler though.
As the Amex pays the higher cashback, then I'll have to start seeing again who is prepared to accept that as payment.
The Visa card will be useful too as most/all of my other credit cards currently appear to be Mastercard and I have had experiences in the past (usually abroad) where they would only accept Visa not MC and vice versa. I do have a Visa debit card, but prefer credit cards for some purchases.
I'm also on the 0.25% cashback deal currently (rarely spend over £200 a month on this particular card), after Barclays kept reducing it, and I think I've had it paid always possible in the past, monthly by credit to the account, annually by credit to the account (that's the current system), annually by cheque, and they've changed the date they've paid it annually too I think.
Hopefully they may have found a cashback system they can live with this time. To be honest, I thought the next change would be to remove cashback altogether, it already having been reduced to next to nothing. At least a step back in the right direction for me. Can't wait.0 -
I receive 2% cashback on supermrket & petrol and 0.5% on other spend, how will I be better off?'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0

the new deal can't be compared to anything on the market.0

Also from the long thread already about this, if you complain to Barclaycard you can end up with a £50 credit and double cashback for 6 months if you keep pushing them as compensation for the changes.

Not all the time! Must depend on who you speak to.0 -
I don't want to carry an extra card.
I don't want less cashback.
I will take the sweetener for the initial spending and then look around. If all else fails I will move all my spending to my Capital One card that pays 1 percent.
Over the years I have twice had Barclays current accounts with different branches and cancelled them both because of terrible service. I have also cancelled at least 2 previous Barclaycards accounts.
I only ended up with this Barclaycard because of the transfer from Egg. I was waiting for the deal to be worsened so not surprised.0 -
Just complain via secure message, ignore their phone calls, and they will offer you £50 and double cashback for 6 months.0

Oh btw the £15 introduction for first £300 spend works out at 5% cashback0

I wonder how long before they start to charge for the amex card as a "service improvement".
I liked my egg card and the 1% without juggling 2 cards, guess its time to look again.0
