Selling Car With Fault
I need some advice about selling my car which has a known fault. It's currently losing coolant and is possibly the cylinder head gasket & I basically can't afford to repair it. The car is currently running however and in good condition otherwise.
Any advice on how and where to sell would be appreciated.

As long as you include spares or repair, then the buyer knows what they are letting themselves in for.0

Sell it in the same way you would if it didn't have the fault, just be honest and describe the symptoms and any investigation that's been done, and that the car is in your opinion suitable for spares or repairs only.0

Be honest in the advert - "loosing some coolant but driving great. This will need investigated and addressed by the buyer - priced accordingly"0 -
Just say it's had a head gasket failure. Plenty of people will still be interested.0

What car is it and where is the coolant leaking from?0

As above, sell it at the right price on Autotrader, and be honest.
I'd suggest, though, that it might be better to have it repaired, as you will very likely increase the price by more than the amount that the repair costs.0 -
You can try a snake oil product like Steal seal, there has been some reports of success and then send the car to the auction.
cars entered and sold at auction by private sellers are sold as seen without warranty and complete with all faults and implications.Be happy...;)0 -

Please don't ever sell a car on ebay.0 -
Why not? I did pretty well with an old Suzuki a few years ago.
I was specifically talking to the guy above who suggested using a snake oil fix and then selling without disclosing such information. Snake oil head gasket fixes sometimes work, but they sometimes fail. Regardless, such information should be disclosed to the buyer, especially in the car is on eBay. Some poor first lad turns up and buys it as their first car and has it blow up on the way home.
You have to wonder how you'd feel if that was your own child being conned. It's different if it's a write-off auction or whatever, knowledge is implied.0
