Anyone ever used one of those Removal services that does the packing for you?

Looking to move but it will be tight on time before I have to go back to work in China so thinking about using one of those companies that does all the packing and transportation and unpacking for you in case I am away and my wife has to do it alone.
Has anyone every used this type of service?

I've seen some recent posts where people have been very happy with this kind of service when moving. I'm sure if you do a search of the board you will come up with the positive comments that people have posted. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
We have used them in the past and its been very lovely apart from one instance where an expensive suit of mine went missing during removal. It was too late already when I found that it was missing. So, if you can keep an eye on them while they are packing and unpacking your stuff, it is excellent. I am not sure how you would
do that though as they might be working simultaneously in different areas.
Due to this experience, I may not be using these services in future. By the way, company we used was a Brittania removals which is quite a reputable company apparently.0 -
My mother-in-law did this and was happy- but she packed her valuables and glassware herself.0

I was packed (not unpacked) and it was worth every penny.
Try to get a fixed quote rather than one by the hour if possible.
Sometimes damage to valuables is only insured during removal if they've been professionally packed; check out the removers' insurance as well as your own.0 -
The guy we bought this house off had the removers pack everything. They missed a few odds'n'sods, but also an entire cupboard full of valuable old books. Fortunately for the vendor, we'd got friendly with him during buying, and our arrival overlapped slightly with his departure - and noticed before he left. We even had to lend him a box...
They also couldn't be bothered to remove their boots, wipe their feet or lay any carpet protector - on a damp and muddy couple of days...0 -
Yes, we have used packing services the past 3 moves (and unpacking services for the past 2 moves). Just about to move again and use packing and unpacking. If you have the budget for it, then it really really helps. Unpacking service isn't as helpful as packing, BUT it definitely helps in rooms like the kitchen and also means that they can get rid of most of the packing materials there and then...
We had a few things left behind (including a sky box which was in a kitchen cupboard...), but not a problem since I went back afterwards to double check and prepare the house for cleaning (had professional cleaners in to clean the house - I am a nice vendor...).
They did use caroet protectors etc.
GBLiners are a big national firm and offer packing and unpacking, but many firms do (our last one was a more local one)0 -
tbh think I will just get a load of boxes and do the packing myself and just get the removals to pick up, transport and off-load of the big stuff, that way I know what will be in all the boxes and which room it needs to go in, will have a month to do it whilst wife and daughter are at work and nursery so will keep me busy...0

out of interest do they do the packing and removal and transportation in a day?
ours is a 3 bed house so not exactly a tonne of stuff?0 -
Packing is one day, moving stuff out and in (and supposedly unpacking) all in a second day.0

I was packed one afternoon and moved the next day.0
