Bt email problems

I have been unable to send or receive emails in my BT email account since 4 March.
I have had 3 sessions with BT where they share my computer and try to sort out the problem, to no avail.
After the 3rd session, BT finally admitted that they are changing from Yahoo, as email provider, to another provider and that this has caused a similar problem to 'many other customers'!
The result is that I probably have over 100 unread emails, some of which may have payment requests.
Am I legally entitled to claim back any costs due to any resultant late payments, not to mention the time wasted on the phone?
They say that they are making 'all efforts' to resolve the problem, but how on earth can it take 9 days to do that?!
I would be interested to hear if other BT email users have the same problem as me.

No, you can't claim consequential loss, as there is no SLA on what I assume is a residential contract.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Thanks BT. I used that contact page before, but the person responding has not solved the problem yet. I have now had to set up a gmail account in order to maintain contact with various suppliers.

    For general information:

'A person with an Indian accent has just phoned me up, supposedly from Microsoft, showing me various error & warning messages (about files) on my computer.
He claimed that these were causing my email problem and took me to a web page which had downloads which would remove these files.
At this point I declined to go any further as I have the email problem also on my ipod & ipad, which have different operating systems. Therefore it can't be my PC alone which is causing the problem!'

Has anyone else had a similar phone call?

    Yes. Its a scam.

Have you had the emails warning that your mail is changing ? Depending on how you use email, you may have to make changes to your mail settings, for example, if using IMAP on the Ipad

I had trouble with my bt email recently. I solved the problem by altering my username in outlook express. Previously I had my full bt email address in outlook express as user-name and it worked ok.

When the bt emails stopped coming I removed the part of the email address after the ampersand and it all started working again. So instead of joeblogs378@btinternet.com I just used joeblogs378
