  • There is a legal obligation on the householder to register people that live at an address. More specifically the offence is failing to give information as required by a registration officer.

People do get fined, though it's not common.

The government plan to introduce individual registration, ie a system where the obligation is on individuals themselves.

Completely agree with you, if requested to provide details of who lives in your household (i.e. canvas) and you refuse you could be prosecuted, except, a prosecution cannot commence unless you know who you are prosecuting, by refusing to provide your name it goes without saying that there is little they can do. You see the flaw in the logic. Around here they don't even bother sending around their canvassers to chase anymore as people know they wont or cant prosecute. Even their website does not state it is law, it states several reasons to apply for the register and in theory if it were illegal they could rake in fortunes from new residents that missed the last few years newly applying again. I'm sure if they had a vendetta they could cross check the government databases but they barely get the basics right without complicating it with extra checks.

The law is due to change to individual responsibility in the Summer, which if prosecuted would be proof that the individual knew they had not applied rather than denying knowledge that the householder hadn't but still, unless you give your details, a catch 22.

Don't get me wrong, I think we should all be on the voters roll personally but it is up to the individuals discretion in my view. Similar laws that exist which are not enforced include piracy where it has been stated that secondary downloaders are not targeted for prosecution, rather than the primary sharing sources, and to licenses on the grounds that the BBC have misled the public and covered up huge scandals which we have funded.

What I'm trying to get across is, technically it is illegal to not be on the roll, along with a lot of laws that aren't enforced. Did you know there is a by law that states the council will pay you for each rats tail you chop off and hand in to the council? True story, Ii used to work for my local one. Not all laws are prosecuted, and if so would need irrefutable proof.

Did anyone ever make the council pay out for this? How much could you be paid?

I'm not on the electoral roll and I've never had problems getting finance or credit lines.

You say you've already had financing through creation so why not apply for one of their credit cards.

Also like another had said why are you spending so much on virgin media??? Also littlewoods is expensive, get a very account. I bought my Samsung Galaxy Mega through them and saved £200 (bought it for £360 after 10% off first order)

plus don't worry about experian and equifax rating you 'yellow' it means naff all!

Also who do you bank with and what kind of standing is your account in?

I don't understand about the Virgin Media part. I have no choice but to pay that monthly fee. This Skybox F5 i would like more info.?

I'm not a total rookie as i had the Eurovox a few years back but that was rubbish when Nigra 3 rolled out...

So this Skybox is it the same principles as the Kryptview a780.?
