    Thanks for support guys.

So....Seamour the EA rang me back after my 2nd offer and said rejected. Before I had a chance to say anything he said that the sellers won't take anything under 160k so not to waste their time.

I am going to think things over the weekend and maybe see if something else comes up
Why don't you offer more than the asking price just to push up the Land Registry figures?

I wouldn't want to do that. I might just offer 150k and see what they say

Isn't that going against your principles?

They might not have a choice .....

I'd offer them £130k. If they refuse, tell them that the boomers stole your future and that that is all you are willing to pay.

good choice in buying, in 5 years time you will look back and think it is the best thing you did, and 5 years not wasted on rent with nothing to show for it. pleased for you

Have you thought about not giving in, not buying a house and standing by your principles posting on Internet forums telling how life is unfair and the government is propping up house prices?

That's what a lot of them do.

5 years of reduced mobility, increased liability, and probably higher interest rates too.

I am buying too, purely to protect myself against HPI. I would rather keep renting for the time being, so that I can move around to develop my career and build up a bigger deposit at the same time.

not really, you can always move on and rent it out, and rent somewhere else, and give yourself time to decide if you want to sell it or move back, there are loads of options, and dont listen to all the horror stories about being a landlord,
