Time waster?

Hello
My house went on the market today and already have had someone interested in viewing it. Problem is that they have not sold their own house or even put it on the market. Would you still go ahead with letting them view or not bother? We are new to selling. Also should we start looking ourselves or wait till we have an offer?
TIA

Well from their point of view you could easily be perceived as a time waster yourself. If they want to buy they will have no idea what sort of chain they are getting into. They will have no idea whether you have realistically priced up the sort of house you want to move to and whether you can afford it. So yes, you should be actively looking.0

no viewing, no chance of sale- impress on anyone asking to view that a quick sale is needed, so their old house sale / mortgage funding mortgage etc needs to be in placeLong time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
How much of a hurry are you in? it doesn't sound like things are particularly urgent so this viewer may be perfect for you.
Personally, given how much Rightmove browsing i'd been doing (and also some viewing too), I felt that i knew my target market inside and out before i'd even put my house on the market. Your viewer could market and sell his house very quickly and you neeed to be in a position to move quickly too.0 -
We know where we want to buy and I have been actively looking on RM and have a few properties saved. Going to arrange some viewings for the weekend.0

I would be pi--ed if someone turned up to view mine and they weren't in a position to offer if they liked it.
Also we never looked at any until we were in a position to offer on their house.
There's a lot of work involved in showing someone your house why bother if they are not going to be able to buy?0 -

I think it depends on the local market - in some areas house are flying off the shelves and you can go from 'timewaster' to SSTC within a week.
If i wanted to maximise the likelihood of selling my house, I'd be accepting all viewers unless i had a really good reason not to.0 -
As DRP says above. We did not want to sell our property initially until we had found somewhere as I thought it might take a while and the last thing I wanted was to have found buyers for ours and then be under pressure to find somewhere ourselves. Once we found the house we liked, we put ours onto market immediately and received an offer on the open day which was held about a week later.0

Guess it depends where you are in the country then or unless you are giving your house away to get a fast sale...0
