Lost Internet Connection

Hi,
My Son has had his Computer (Windows XP ) formatted & is now unable to connect to the internet,is there an easy solution to this problem?.

    or does he just not have an internet connection installed - ie. he has lost the settings?

    Yes he does have an Internet Broadband connection,but since re-formatting cannot connect to it.
    We were hoping that someone might know of a way around this that we could cope with without having to spend money on the problem.:confused:

    Try click on start then control panel then network connections and try to enable your broadband there

    He probably needs to install the drivers for the USB ADSL Modem. There should be a CD with it that came from the ISP.

    If he uses a router instead of a USB modem, he needs to find the motherboard driver CD and install the network adapter drivers.

    Thanks for this,going to locate the CD today (amongst the clutter) and give it a go.

    Well if it is ADSL then the set up CD and talking to ISP customer support makes the most sense

    If Cable you can look at the modem and see what is going on with the lights - if getting green lights steady or intermittent on PC send receive internet type lights - you can try
    Internet Explorer Tools Internet Options Connections LAN settings and make sure the box is checked for Automatically Detect Settings - Apply
