BT Phone & internet contract

Hi all,
I’m after a bit of advice. I have about 12 months of a 18 month contractleft to run on my BT line rental and internet.
Unfortunately my girlfriend and I have split up and we have to sell thehouse and cancel everything.
From what I have read there will be some quite hefty charges as expected toend the contract early.
I just wondered if there is any way of getting out of these due to thecircumstances? Obviously I understand this is the whole point of a contract butdidn’t know if there are any ways around it?

No, there isn't. Death or bankruptcy are the only ways to avoid the ETC. If you are moving to another property without an existing service you can transfer it over, but this will start you on a new minimum term.
At the risk of sounding harsh, if relationship breakup were valid grounds for voiding the contract without penalty, can you imagine how many people would be invoking that?No free lunch, and no free laptop
