Coupon, I hope you didn't take this thread as any sort of criticism. I was just trying to think of ways to make people realise that the sticky applied to them and actually read it.0

They can trust me I'm an admin on a couple of sites running this software. They won't implement it because they can't be bothered. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Perhaps renaming the sticky *START HERE* and explaining the letter in plainer English will help.
You can all tell I don't write succinctly so if anyone wants to attempt a re-write please do. I do want to reduce the other wording in the sticky BUT am fairly happy with the actual template letter.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The difficulty with whatever title you call it will be actually directing NEWBIES to read them.
I raised this directly via email with the forum admin - including the fact the intro video calls them pinned threads. Also suggested colour coding or to suggest in the text at top of each forum to read sticky threads for information.

The difficulty is actually MSE. Old and now wrong advice should be deleted and expunged. They refuse to do it for some reason. There's various threads on MSE where an individual is giving crap advice and the people replying pointing it out are at more risk of being PPR'd than the OP. Why?...because of MSE!0

And a consensus about the thread title. I don't think 'START HERE' is enough as it means nothing on it's own as a title, IMHO, and it's important to make it clear it's only about private PCNs.

I didn't mean it to be called 'START HERE' onlyMaybe Something like 'Received a Private Parking Charge.....START HERE'.
In the sticky thread there are a number of words that for many are hard to grasp, especially when not thinking straight. Even in your post above, you have used the words 'consensus' and 'succintly'. Now I do happen to know what those words mean, but to me they are not plain english. I hope you don't feel I'm criticising. You have clearly put a lot of hard work into this. I'm just trying to explain how it could be made clearer to others, and therefore easier for you.
There is also lots of bolding in the sticky. Every time I read through, due to the length of the post I automatically jumped to just the bold writing. In doing so I did miss the main points. It took several readings, and help in the thread I started, to actually understand and realise I needed to read every single word even if I only understood bits of it.0 -

The problem as I said elsewhere, is that the situation is unique to them, so they want answers to questions, so they create a new thread. Or hijack a thread about it. When that happens I and others say create a new thread as we can't continue on a hijacked thread, which obviously annoys you.
To put it into context for you, we are saying to people to search for an answer on here, if you transferred that to a situation into a bank for example, and you were told by a bank teller to go to their website and look at a certain page for an answer, and to come back to here if any questions, would you think that is satisfactory ?
I know we are offering our services for free, but we should not be taking our frustrations out on newbie people to the site or the situation, that is self defeating and we lose people because of it. So they go out and probably pay the scam, or go elsewhere, if we are lucky they land up on pepipoo.
I find it frustrating that people on here give template answers when they could spend a few minutes just typing out answers to questions. Yes give a link so people can see what further reading on the subject can yield. But we shouldn't be treating people as an annoyance because they haven't done what we are expecting them to do.When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you.
