Thank you all for the advice earlier re: printers... I popped to my local library today and it's 10p per sheet for B&W and the job centre do allow you to print CV's, job descriptions etc (didn't ask about APG's).

Also popped into my Tesco's today as I wanted to take advantage of the BNI deal, with the plan to do a couple of those, stock up the freezer so that if I'm out of work any longer than I need to be - at least I've got something in the freezer.

I was 100% sure I had 10 items in my basket, actually had 13 as I'd also bought some cat food, but planned on splitting the shop (cat food first, then the rest).

Used Self Serve tills as I didn't want to draw attention to the PP that may come out.

Anyway, just as I'm putting kitty food on the floor, the sales assistant bundles over to me and was quite chirpy asking if I was buying for more than one person etc, but then starts doing everything for me, scanning it through etc. And on one of the fillers (packet of Haribo), there was no bar code on it, so she just put that into my bag and called up the total. I said I'd go and get another packet and she said "No, it's ok - it's all sorted now", and I almost wanted to say I'd forgotten something and go grab an apple or something like that, but I was trying not to make a big thing of it.

Needless to say, as that was now only 9 items, no PP came out. I thought the idea of Self Service was to do just that - serve yourself!! Luckily I will eat them and they will be used, I'm just a bit annoyed that I didn't have control over what I knew I should have been doing.

Grrrr... That's exactly what you didn't want, and it wasn't "all sorted" at all:mad::mad::mad:. They don't realise what they are doing or what impact it has. They didn't do it right at all. I'd definitely have gone for an extra item or abandoned the transaction - don't care whether drawing attention to myself or not there:eek:. I know the experience though - if it's busy store or having to leave the cat food aside and return for it and buy it separately later!! (What are we supposed to do to stop the SA doing this (what they did on your shopping)?)

One of my SAs (non-SS) failed completely to scan one of the glitch items I'd hoped I'd bought. So when mbuy didn't come off on till (hoping it did not and then GC) I was hoping it didn't, but that was because they didn't scan it at all! Brought me down to 7 items:(:(, and then when I tried to correct at store CS goes and scans both items 'in the deal' and says they are not in the deal - oh well, cat out of the bag at that stage!!:mad: No, I'll just put you this one on. (I wanted to cancel the whole seven and put all through again, not unreasonably!) At that stage, I had to decide I didn't want any of the shopping at all, for some inexplicable reason, and put the whole lot back. Just totally killed the opp. with that store - and SELs unfavourable at the other stores:(:(:(.

That said on another occasion, when I had an item not scan and an SA (at SS) manually enter it - I had to ask them, about three times, whether they were absolutely sure they had put the correct item through (and thus the right flavour, that compared vs elsewhere)!! Fortunately, several hours later, it turned out they had:T - but I really wouldn't rely on anyone (certain any normal member of any staff anywhere) ever doing anything right, as my experience is that they just very often do not. It's just insignificant to normals:(.

Plead ignorance and that you sent your daughter for shopping and she saw APG advertised and thought she'd check it works for me except I am the daughter doing her mums shop and I just get what is on her list so no idea how it happened

Or just be up front and say you read about it on the internet and thought you'd have a go! You couldn't believe how successful it was as you really didn't think it would work. I've done that before too.

In the main, just remember you've done nothing wrong and you have a perfectly legitimate APG to use, whether they call as supervisor or not, doesn't really matter.
