I remember reading some posts a while back now about how some members of the Elite can do all their grocery shopping for around £50 per month. At the time I thought I would gradually pick up how to do this myself but time is of the essence now so I wondered if anyone can give me some more specific advice and/or information re how to do this.
How many are you shopping for? Any special dietary requirements? Are you a fairly competent cook? Do you have spare freezer space? (You don't have to answer any of these if you want!)
As a general guideline (and what works for me) is meal planning and batch cooking, and only buying exactly what you need for that week's/fortnight's/month's meal plan.

I'm sitting here feeling rather sorry for myself as I have severe vertigo (dizziness) which isn't being helped by the meds my GP has given me.
What's making me feel worse is that I am self employed so if I don't work I don't get any money.
It's also impossible for me to drive at the moment, and even travelling by bus makes my head spin ten times worse - which makes shopping difficult as nearest Tosca is 3 miles away and nearest Sada 7+ miles.
Fortunately, things are manageable at the moment as dh is able to do some work (he has a chronic heart condition) and we do have some savings for emergencies such as these but obviously I want to minimise dipping into savings so I'd be very grateful for some advice from the Elite.
I've only been on the Elite board a few weeks but I've already managed some successful shops for burgers, bni curries, JF shampoo, pork chops, biscuits and Easter eggs thanks to all the wonderful Elite posters. Obviously, these have saved me a significant amount of money and I have some stashed away for the (now) rainy day, which is very fortuitous indeed given my current dizziness (think all the horrible effects of drinking too much without any of the more pleasant ones)! However, man cannot live on burgers, curries, Easter eggs and shampoo alone!

I would also be grateful if you could tell me the best way to do a Sada home delivery as I might have to rely on having shopping delivered until my head stops spinning! I have used Tosca home delivery a couple of times but never Sada. For example, would I get an APG if I bought special pork chops and the correct Muller yoghurts for home delivery?
Sorry to hear nenenIve been stuck at home myself in the past having to rely on shopping online. Different circumstances but I know how frustrating it is
I can't help much with keeping to a £50 budget. I'd have to starve my kids and possibly the dog to manage that
Yes, you can get an APG if you buy the things that are glitchy or cheap like the pork chops. The only disadvantage to online shopping is that glitchy/cheap prices could change by the time you have it delivered but that can happen with shopping in store as well, it's all a risk.
APG vouchers are only credited once a week, so you might have to wait up to a week to spend them depending on which day you shop. Also some Asdas are doing £1 deliveries at the moment. I think it's Tuesday-Thursday for deliveries between 4pm and 9pm or something like that. So check if your store do it, you might be able to save on delivery costs HTH0 -

Nooo, silly:)
Get a phone book, or two, place in front of the toilet, and rest your feet on them; it alters the body posture, and - voila! - gravity takes over:rotfl:'It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.'

Happy birthday QOC:bdaycake: hope you've had a lovely day xx
Tis a bit of a pants week so far
My mum was knocked off her bike on Monday by some complete knobhead who never bothered stopping. She and another cyclist were both sent flying. No serious injuries thank god but she's bruised all down one side.
This morning my husband had a range rover crash into his car. He's unscathed but the car wasn't so lucky.
I'm thinking I'm gonna wrap me and lil stink up in bubble wrap for the rest of the week.
the stinks are having a bad week:( Thank goodness for no serious injuries, that's the main thing! I hope your mum recovers quickly

So, after all the fun I had in As this morning I went back again just before 3pm to see if there was anything else to be had.
And...
I think I have found an absolute scorcher!!:beer:
Conditions were right when I did the shop an hour ago and are still perfect now..;)
I'm going to do an FQ and keep it quiet for the moment, but lets just say if it works we can buy as many as we want, no trigger required and hardly any fillers.
Oh, I forgot to say, this will potentially mean that we all actually make a profit too!:D:D
Come back just before 6pm either to have a laugh at my expense when I post the results or grab your car keys to fill your boots!!:p:p0 -
