I appealed two fines some years back.

One was for illegal parking, issued within five minutes of an illegal parking fine I'd been issued two miles away and paid.

Phoned them up and the bloke burst ou laughing and said "Oops! Beam me up, Scotty".

The other one was for being in a box junction. The Council sent a letter claimng my car was in my workplace's locked car park under CCTV surveillance. They cancelled it and said there was an error reading the plate.

I'd always challenge it if you can.

I was relieved I got away without a fine last month for going through a red light to let a speeding ambulance through. Specially as I read afterwards how fast patients deteriorate on the journey.

I will tell you one better than that - my OH got a speeding ticket many years ago in England (going at 50 in a 40 zone)- was going to be points and money SO here is what I did. We had a bereavement in the family a day after the speeding ticket date. I sent the death certificate to prove that my OH was rushing to catch a flight to the bedside. Is that bad? I got a letter apologising and offering condolences:o:o:o

Thanks for your replies peeps :) I'll have a look around the motoring forum. Had a look at Pepipoo but it seems to be just about speeding.

Twinboys, it's from the council. I've read through but nothing is mentioned about suspending dates. I think the standard fine is £60 but they reduce it to £30 if paid within 14 days, so I'll probably have to pay £60 if it's not sorted within the 14 days and if my appeal fails.

If this is the case I'll have to make a decision before 25th March about if I should pursue my appeal or just pay the £30 and be done with it.

Contact them and get it in writing that they have suspended the time, so a if the appeal fails you will still be entitled to a discount. Just be polite about it and I'm sure they will be ok. You might find it on the forum but I remember there being something bout you cannot be penalised for appealing as this would be unjust. Act quickly and ask for a reference number for the call HTH

I hope you get it sorted, sorry no advice.

I think I would just pay it and forget it. At one time I would have challenged it but now I don t think I would be bothered to do so.

    morning :hello:
the 1st year we applied DS2 got a laptop & DS3 got an ipad & the 2nd year we got DS2 an ipad as they changed it to one claim per family so we only got the ipad as i had listed it first. this year i'll have to put DS3's choice first as he missed out last year :rotfl:

Hi, what is this family fund please? I originally thought you meant ask a relative but now I'm not so sure

did you have fun? :) i know they give merlin annual passes too :) DS3 has decided he wants an xbox one this year but due to them having to wait for funding to come through last year we've got to wait until may instead of january as it's 12 months from receiving your last claim i think :(

    Help please :D

I want to find some sort of template that I can print off something like a Willy Wonka golden ticket does anyone have any useful links?

I've got one of my mad magical mystery tours planned for OH but I don't want to give him the actual invoices/vouchers etc as he is not going to know where he is going, just going to get a set of postcodes to input into the sat nav

so I thought if I could print something off like this with vague clues on the back

    Any bright ideas please?
