Woke up this morning with a headache, probably due to worrying about my bus lane fine which I've appealed. The photo they sent me shows my car so far away even I can't recognize my own car! My appeal is based on my belief that I changed lanes immediately before the bus lane after some other cars had overtaken me.
Has anyone here ever appealed motoring offences before, if so how did you get on? My biggest worry is that they have 15 days to respond to my appeal whereas if I don't pay £30 within 14 days of 11/3/14, the fine goes upto £60. It's all in their favour  I want to fight it because of the principle, just worried this might end up costing me double what it could have :huh:0 -

I did once, I got a fine 'driving' in a bus lane in Hackney a few years ago where they had the camera cleverly positioned so it looked like I did, but actually didn't. I lost the appeal and had to pay £60. They responded pretty quickly so I didn't have to pay the full £120 fine. I would be  too. I got a parking fine this week and it's now £65 in the first 14 days then, £130 after that. They are a bunch of merchant bankers!

The dates should be suspended from the time you put the appeal in. Double check your paperwork thoroughly. Who has issued it the police or Council?davemorton wrote: »Head over to http://www.pepipoo.com/ they are experts at things like this. Also MSE motoring forum is quite good at times.
Thanks for your replies peepsI'll have a look around the motoring forum. Had a look at Pepipoo but it seems to be just about speeding.
Twinboys, it's from the council. I've read through but nothing is mentioned about suspending dates. I think the standard fine is £60 but they reduce it to £30 if paid within 14 days, so I'll probably have to pay £60 if it's not sorted within the 14 days and if my appeal fails.
If this is the case I'll have to make a decision before 25th March about if I should pursue my appeal or just pay the £30 and be done with it.0 -

Morning mad squad,
I once successfully appealed against a parking ticket, as long as I appealed before the deadline I would be given the same amount of time to pay as origanaly offered reguardless of the how long it took for them to make their decision.
If you can use any evidence to support your claim do so.
Remember it's a person who decides these things so a friendly, polite email could go a long way.
