Paying two water rates

I have a problem that I am so confused about a coupe weeks ago our water was turned off so we contacted Northumbrian water and they said it was not them but the shop below our flat.he has the only water tap as the flat and shop are joined he turned the water off due to his high bill he has a water metre and we pay direct debt but we have found out that we are paying £43.01 a month but apparently that is just for our an the shop sewage so now we have to pay £15 per week i don't understand how i could have to pay so much please help me and my partner are so confused please help

If the flat and shop are separate, there should be two separate meters and each pay for their own water and sewerage - which will include standing charges for both water and sewerage.

If I understand you correctly, there is some sort of(illegal) arrangement where the shop was paying the water charges and you paying sewerage charges.

Those charges shown above are not expensive by UK standards and you would need to use a lot of water to be paying £15 a week - unless that £15 a week is to pay off arrears.

If your bill is £15 a week then that means your consumption would be roughly 300 cubic metres a year, which would be about the average consumption for 6 people.

We really need more details, and information from your bill to help you.
