Trying to put a flat on the market - is this normal?

I have a flat that I am trying to sell. Have had to chase the estate agent from the beginning. A valuation was done, that I was happy with and the the flat was supposed to be surveyed on the 3rd March.
I have emailed and rung several times to see if this has been undertaken and to find out when the flat will go on the market. And I'm not getting an answer.
I have never sold before so don't know if this incompetence is normal, or should I go to another agent.
I am so frustrated.

Go with another agent. Even if there is a perfectly good reason, imagine when you're trying to get feedback on viewings, progress the sale etc. Things will only get worse.
If they are this rubbish winning business then think how awful they could be once you sign up.
Have you signed anything, and did you get other estate agents round to value it? If you have signed up it may prove more difficult0 -
Thanks for the reply Patricia. I told them I was happy with their fees and told them to go ahead with home survey and report. However, they won't tell me if the home report/survey has been undertaken.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Can't comment on your process but the EA sounds like a disaster. You're paying £'000s and they won't talk to you; imagine your potential buyers trying to deal with them.0

Your surveyor needs to send a draft home report to you to approve, only you can approve it and it's only once this is done the house can go on the market. I have just put mine on this week, took 2 weeks from start to finish. Your estate agent probably can't do anything till you approve the home report. Be careful with this make sure you read it twice before approving0

You need to approve a draft of the HR AND complete the Property Questionnaire. Have you done this?
Maybe the surveyor is waiting for the PQ.
Do you live at the flat? If so, wouldn't you know if the surveyor had called round?0 -
Thanks all. No I don't live at the flat. The manager has gotten onto the case now and it is being done tomorrow.
Thanks for the advice PrincessJuke about reading the home report thoroughly. I will make sure I do that.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Normal incompetence0

Sorry I should of said the reason to read it twice is because once it has been approved it can't be amended unless you pay for another survey. I asked for a couple of things on mine to be deleted as felt they weren't relevant and it was no issue - good luck with your sale :-)0
