Motorpoint - Chevrolet Spark

My Peugeot 206 has died, dead gasket went so would be uneconomical to repair.

I only need a small car so have 3 options which fit by budget:

Peugeot 107
Citroen C1
Chevrolet Spark

Have decided to go for the Chevrolet Spark as its the bigger of the 3 and would suit me more. I will be testing at Motorpoint this evening.

Anything i should be aware of or look out for?

The car has 1 years manufacturer warranty left and was going to add a further 2 years at a cost of £500. Is this worth doing?

Also adding CAP insurance but looking around this seems cheaper to purchase elsewhere. Am i correct?

Chevrolet have announced they are pulling out of the UK, which would personally put me off buying one. Apart from anything, used values will plummet and parts will be harder to come b-y.

A third party warranty probably isnt worth the paper its written on as there will be too many exclusions

GAP insurance is probably a good idea, but as you say i'd find the best deal online for it and save yourself £££s.

Top gear give it 5/10. They hint that the Fiat Panda is a better buy.

The Toyota Aygo is also the same as the Pug 107 and Citroen C1

I don't think parts will be a problem to be honest -- Vauxhall have already announced that they'll be bringing in a small car which will be a Spark with a Vauxhall badge on it, and in general I suspect we'll be seeing more and more Daewoo-built cars with Vauxhall badges in the future.

The next year or so will be the time to buy a Chevrolet, as people who might otherwise have bought one are put off and the prices fall -- this will reverse when people realise the true situation.

We had one as a hire car in the USA last year, it was the most uncomfortable car I have been in!
  • Thanks for all your advise so far.

Looked at the Toyota Aygo but its too small in certain ways for me.

I like the spark, and think it should offer low running cost and reliable motoring.
But depending on cost of the used spark have you considered buying a new Dacia? And I deffinatly wouldn't go with gap insurance

I believe you can buy a brand new Spark for either £4000 or £4500 from a broker, if you have a trade in.

    If it's the sort of car you're after, it's a no-brainer really.

Do you mean their GAP insurance or GAP insurance in general.
