28 Day warranty

I'm after some advice.

I bought an Audi A4on the 26th Feb and it came with a 28 day warranty. On the 27th I dicsovered the parking sensors were not working so I called the place I bought it and told them. The earliest they could book it in was on the 12th March which I wasn't very impressed by and to cover myself I took it to Audi for a check over. They identified the CV boot leaking and the exhaust coupler split. They also highlighted the tyre treads as being 2mm whem my pre deliver inspection says all tyres have 5mm.

My thoughts are that the CV boot and exhaust are a given and they have to repair these under the 28 day warranty however I would also suggest that the car was sold with tyres having 5mm tread and not only just legal 2mm. SHould they then be replacing these too under warranty?

Any advice much appreciated

Tyre depth is not a warranty issue. A warranty is provided to cover faults that occur on the vehicle (although most warranties don't even do that), not the condition of consumables.

I agree, probably should have worded it slightly differently. I believe the defects that were highlight should be fixed under warranty however is the car classed as being mis sold with the PDI and should they replace or refund the cost now that this has been highlighted?

OP isn't on about the warranty for the tyres. The garage apparently did a 'pre sale' check and said each tyre had at least 5mm. I'd therefore ask for some tyres to be chucked on that are 5mm, or better ask for a few quid back and buy some brand new ones.

If the tyres were described as having 5mm and only had 2mm then you should be entitled to something. How many miles have you driven since you collected the car?

About 250 as I had to wait a week to get it into Audi. BTW those 250 were motorway miles and not wheel spins.

    Well

Just to report back, I took my Audi printout in and the company agreed to fix all faults. They also agreed to replace the two front tyres. All in all a success. They have ordered the parts and I shall report back once they have completed the work.

And the '28 day warranty' is nonsense by the way. they can't dodge their legal obligations by giving you a warranty that limits your rights under the sale of goods act.

    No completely wrong

They have to warrant the condition of the car under the soga.

A warranty is over and above that.
