Just this morning the door on my Bauknecht washing machine stopped opening properly in fact I couldnt get it open using the handle..
In the end I had to use a screw driver to get the door open...is there anything I can do to get the door working again properly ?

Normally Washing Machine doors are on a timer-delay and open about 3-4 minutes after the washing has finished.
Just in case you do not know, you need to leave the power on and after about 3-4 minutes it should open.
You could also try to spin it again after the wash to see if it will open then. Again you will have to wait the three or 4 minutes.
Hope this helps.

Door lock fault most probably although you may have damaged the door or latch if you levered the door.
If you need a price on one let me know the model and 12NC number.

It could be the switch that tells the machine there is no water left in the drum.
This is normally connected to the base of the drum by a pipe...sometimes this pipe gets blocked with soap.0 -
Our Bosch machine developed this fault some years ago. I found that a sharp blow on the door with the heel of my hand while holding down the door open button worked. It still works.0

I didnt do anything to the door it just stopped working so I could open it as usual. I had to use a screw driver to open it as there was washing in it and so I couldnt just leave it.
Usually there is a clicking noise when the washing machine has finished to let me know I can open the door. This seems to have stopped happening but wouldnt that be a software issue ?

what would you be giving me a quote for a new part ?"The time is always right to do what is right"0 -
No first of all I'd look it up and see what the script was but it's doubtful that it's a "software issue", extremely doubtful.
The door lock is a simple affair, the time delay governed most often by a simple bi-metallic strip inside the lock. If that breaks, burns or fails for whatever reason the door won't open or won't lock correctly so the machine won't start as there's no power fed up to the timer or PCB.

Hi there
I have had this problem a few times, the first time I got charged £100 to free my washing. I watched the guy "fix" the problem and since then have done this myself on a couple of different machines - here's what I do...
Unplug the washing machine
Get a screwdriver and remove the top of the machine, the screws are usually at the back and you need to lift and slide the top off.
Put my hand down the inside of the machine on the side the door catch is..
Feel for a lever/catch and pull it up/down/left/right (different for each model)
Theres usually a bit of fluff and stuff that is causing the problem, remove this too...
Hope this helps - Good luck!0 -

Hi ahll,
It's one of the elctro-mechanical door locks as I thought, there should be a multi-pin connector block with 5 terminals on it. It's operated by a spring system internally so it's probably that that's on the fritz as I thought. If the pressure switch didn't active correctly you'd be more likely to get either an error code chucked up or a report of "not draining correctly". After
20 odd years in the business you pick up a few things.
The door lock is part number 481228058044 and shows at an SRP of just under £30 excl VAT etc. I've no idea what our price would be, I haven't gone that far yet.
