BT email issue, best way to change?

Hello,
I've had a BT email for years, we moved to Sky Broadband a few years back but it seemed to much of a hassle to change. Now BT are threatening to charge for their email its seems like a good point to bite the bullet.
I've found sites that explain how to migrate address boxes etc, but i have so many accounts that link to this email (this one for instance), some of them quite important in terms of managing bills, that i'm concerned that changing my email will cause considerable disruption.
Can anyone recommend a good step by step site that would walk me through the process and hopefully not miss anything?
thanks

I had the same issue, and solved it for me last week.
I had my email address (Prime account) moved to a sub account on my sons BT broadband.
If you know anyone who has BT broadband, then ask them if you can move your email address to be a sub account on their BT broadband.
The email address and passwords will stay the same and your email will still only be able to be seen by you.
Details on how move the account to another persons BT broadband account is contained within the email from BT.
If you have sub email accounts on your prime account they will move across as well0 -
thanks, that's a really neat solution although a first glance through my email contacts shows no one with a BT email? I'm sure that doesn't necessarily mean they don't have BT broadband though.
I do fear that i'll end up having to do this the hard way though.0 -
Gmail a/c takes ten minutes to set up, a blind group cc to all your contacts, maybe an hour to change the address in your online accounts?
And once it's done, you never have to change it again (with a non-ISP specific address). No free lunch, and no free laptop

Hi, before you finally do move, you may want to install some sort of mail client.
That way you have a full back up of all your sent and received mails

I've received an e-mail from BT telling me my account will be terminated in April. I've just checked your link which says to download the application. Before I do, can you tell me what a mail client actually is or does please.
Thank you.If only I knew then what I know now

Virgin look good. Please let me know when my particular corner of south Essex is going to be cabled and I can move to you."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

VM haven't made any investment in new cabling in years. And not ever likely to, since they still have billions of debt from the cabling work done back in the 90's.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Must be costing them a fortune telling ex customers that VM is 'now' available at their address.
For the last 3yrs, I get at least 2 fat/large envelopes each month, telling me VM is available, how much discount I can get for signing up, but you have to search hard to find out how much you will actually have to pay.Move along, nothing to see.0
