if any of you commenting in the way above are actually employed then you are all really naive self righteous or cowards.
op tell your partner to tell the employer that she would welcome a recorded meeting and requires a written confirmation which she can forward to her attorney or union rep even if she has neither they will back off I guarantee it.
check your house insurance to see if you have legal expenses cover as the reps there can offer assistance for employer disputes.

I wasn't, I was trying to point out something else is going on here, either the OP's partner is making a mountain out of a mole hill or is upsetting the team leader for some other reason and just telling her partner it's because of the toilet breaks, as clearly the OP has said others take more time on none working breaks but not getting pulled up for it, so it can't be the breaks that are the issue but the OP's partner/team leader.
That all a side, if the OP really does need to drink gallons and gallons of water just to be able to talk, then she is in the wrong job, but as said I really think it's either a case of a moaning partner wanting sympathy from her partner or the team leader has it in for her and using this as an excuse...so nothing really to do with toilet breaks.0 -
Pointless debate to be honest. I will stick with my opinion that people should be allowed to take as many toilet breaks as they need.
That would be fine if people didnt abuse it. reality is people do abuse it, hence management having to step in. In ops case its simple get a letter from doctor stating they need increased toilet breaks due to their condition, and im sure the company will be fine.
Will people please remember you are being paid by the hour to do a job not sit in a restroom.whinge intr.v. whinged, whing·ing, whing·es Chiefly British To complain or protest, especially in an annoying or persistent manner.0 -
Some managers are just power mad !!!!!! morons.
After the sheer amount of hard work I put in to work. If my employer ever dared to complain about my toilet break then I think I would be tempted to take a dump in his desk drawer.
I read some where that's its more unproductive and demoralising for employees to be have it on their mind that they need to go to the toilet, that they are too hot, cold or thirsty or cravings for cigarettes. It's far better to allow the employee to sort themselves out to allow them to fully concentrate on their work.
Granted there will people who take the biscuit, but the majority of adults I'm sure can be trusted to use their own initiative.
I would hate to work in a place where I felt I had to raise my hand for permission to go to the toilet or get a glass of water.0 -

have you a fit note from your doctor saying you need to use the toilet more?
that might help but the employer only has to make reasonable adjustments if they can, even a fit note is not enough sometimes, the employer has a right to have a worker work in the work place, the adjustments they have to make are only if the workplace would allow it, so you really need a good boss to understand as if you do not have that, then no fit note from a doctor is going to help really.0
