Looking after cats whilst on holiday

It might be worth investigating a cat sitter further for the future, though, so that you have some back-up? I've used them in several different places I've lived and they tend to be nice people (almost always women) who love cats, and who will come in once or twice a day as required. They should have some form of insurance and you can take up references if you are worried. I currently work away from home 3-4 days a week, and therefore have my current sitter coming in once a day to feed and play with my cat, who isnt a very easy cat - a bit aggressive and takes time to get to know strangers. She texts me daily which is very reassuring. What this also means is that if I was taken into hospital or stuck away from home I have some back-up, which I find very reassuring.0

We tend to use a pet sitter as while our cat isn't fussed at all about being in a cattery our dog can't cope with kennels, we've tried him in doggie day care before and he doesn't manage. On the days we are both working we also have an animal sitter come in, being lazy a pooch he rarely persuades my dog to go for a walk, but its company and then they can both be let out for a wee.
Before we had the dog our cat always went in a cattery, but to get her used to it from being a kitten we would occasionally put her in a cattery for the night, so when she did stay for a week she knew where she was and she was familiar with the staff.
It must be a relief that you've found a solution.0
