Looking after cats whilst on holiday

Taxi? It would probably work out less than the cost of a cattery /sitter especially if you book in advance. I have the same problem, probably why we have only been on short trips for the years we have had the mogs! Not sure what to do this year, even less than a week is pushing £100 for the three of them in a catteryCDaniels1987 wrote: »That would of been perfect, however my mum doesn't drive and it's over an hour away on public transport, I wouldn't want my mum doing that on her own.
:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly

Ohhhh that is actually a very good idea!!! I did not think of that! Taxi would only take about 15 mins and we could cover the cost! That is definatley worth thinking about.

No, that's true but I kind of deduced that it was extremely unlikely her cat was accustomed to staying in a cattery due to the nature of their arrangements for pet sitting previously.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Whether the cat has been to a cattery before or not, IMHO I don't think will make much difference, cats tend to live in the here & now. It's usually the journey there and back that can be the more stressful !!
A cattery will give you more certainty that you cat is safe & secure, and will get regular attention throughout the day.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -
Well I told my mum about the taxi idea and she thought it was really good, she said she would get a taxi up about 10ish in the morning and leave about 7pm on the night, that way our cats have plenty of company with a familiar face throughout the day and mums cat has her company on the evenings and nights, she said she didn't mind getting the bus everyday, however it take over an hour on the bus wah way whereas a taxi is like 15 mins, i would feel more comfortable her getting taxis as it would take her directly from her house to ours.
I get what your saying about a cattery but you haven't seen our one cat, she hid under the sofa for 7 hours the once when looking after I nephew, she is very picky and I think she would be a lot safer and comfortable having my mum come up for most of the day each day.Disneyland Paris (Dream Castle) - January 2010

Glad you have come up with a suitable solution. Our cats have always gone to the Cattery once a year and I'm glad we do it from when they are young to avoid problems later. We have other options but I don't like to put on people.Have a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

It might be an idea for your 'Mum' to forewarn the taxi people about taking a cat - my previous one usually crapped while on a car journey - what a pong!!I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0

She won't be taking any cats anywhere though.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Yeah no cats are being moved around, which is the point of the taxis, hopefully keeps all 3 cats happy!Disneyland Paris (Dream Castle) - January 2010

If you forewarn the taxi company and maybe a re a little flexible about times you might be able to negotiate a discount for all these journeys! But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.
