Sounds like any version of Word will do, probably best going for 2007 though. Or cheapest option is to use Openoffice which will have everything you want."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

thank you. cheap sounds good lol
they would have told us about not having word im sure if they hadnt been trying to force add on insurances down our throat GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR0 -
ooh. would we need to uninstall the old orks we have put on or would they run parallel?0

You can install openoffice in addition to it. The word processor in Openoffice can open, edit and save Word documents.

why did you ASSUME it came with WORD?
if it wasn't mentioned as part of the package, then its not there.
Office 2007 is approx £100 worth of software.
A lot of manufacturers pre-install stuff like office but don't give you a disc or serial number for it.
so it never actually belongs to you.:: No Unauthorised Links in Signatures please - FM ::0 -
If you want to save documents with your openoffice software, you can save them as a microsoft word document. That way's safe as then you can open them in "Word" on other computers. Just something that I learnt when I changed to openoffice.0

I'm having the same problem, did a search and found this thread.
So if I install openoffice, will I be able to open and read word documents off my USB stick.

Yes you will.
If you don't need a full office suite like Openoffice you could also look at Abiword which is a free word processor.
The key thing with Openoffice is to change the defaults so it saves files in the Microsoft formats so you can then open them in Word, Excel etc. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Installed and working Thanks again0

Sorry to 'hijack' this thread, but does anyone know if Office 97 will work in Vista? We have the full business edition here (legit) and use all parts of it. It runs happily under XP Home.
Many thanks
