EE Mobile Data sim help

Can anyone tell me how to get my EE 6gb Data sim working?

I ordered a 6gb sim off ebay to pop into my unlocked Three Mi-Fi while i'm away next week.

!!!!!!ed if I can get It working. It shows a signal on the screen, 3G and the Wi-Fi symbol but with an ! next to it (which means its not working I guess!)

There is a long code on the screen of the Mi-Fi too.

It says on EE homepage that the first time I connect, a page should come up where I click "activate" and job done.

Nothing comes up on my laptop apart from "Page can not be found"

Usually quite good with stuff like this but it just isn't working!

It does seem like it needs activating somehow, as there are no settings listed in the Mi-Fi. Its just blank.

Cheers

Its true that if the SIM is accepted - then when you go to the internet you are given the chance to register or just activate without registering and job done.

But there seems to be an issue with the SIM. As the SIM is 4G and i assume your device is 3G - its possible some settings need changing APN etc - or maybe 3G devices just wont accept 4G SIMS.

The very latest Mifi's are 4G - have you got one of them? What model is it?

I assume the MIFI is already set up with you PC etc - and its just this SIM thats the issue?

No its a 3G Mifi. I'll see if I can send the sim back as its not going to work. Been trying for hours now! Will have to get a 3 one tomorrow. Shame as the sim works in my 3G phone so not sure what is wrong!

Just tried with a GiffGaff sim and their APN settings and still no luck, so its not the EE sim at fault :(

It's been a while, but it think you need to source an alternative "desktop" for the mifi to be able to set up alternative profiles for other networks.

It might be worth googling your model number and terms like "use with EE" or "alternative software".

If you have a three mifi it will be locked to three. Unless you have unlocked it, it will not work with EE
  • It seems like the MiFi isn't actually unlocked.

If you couldn't get the giffgaff SIM to work it is either that the MiFi isn't unlocked or there is a twist to getting APN settings active which you haven't found.
