We viewed 2 houses yesterday, one that we love! Ticks almost every box, but to be sure we are going to view a couple more this week that we also like the look of. Check the boiler model and when it was installed. (is it fairly new or a 20 year piece of junk on its last legs like mine which broke 1 month after moving in!)
Check in the loft
Discuss kitchen fittings and what they are leaving. Check the cooker works.

Personally I wouldnt even worry about carpets, my intention is ALWAYS to rip them up (including the underlay) and put my own new stuff down. Maybe thats just me but I cant live on someone elses carpet, unless it had only just been fitted.

RE council tax band you can just check this yourself on the local council website with postcode.
