The boiler is important. A friend went to view a house and the seller said it was a back boiler, so they couldn't look at it. Went back and it didn't work, hadn't worked for years. They heated the house with electric heaters.
Check the chimney if it has one. What is it used for? Open fire or gas fire sat in front of it? If gas fire, check to see if it's plumbed in or just a prop.
Direction of sun is really important so the house gets warm in summer and doesn't suffer from moss growth on the outside walls.
Good luck.Still striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

But a 2nd viewing should be a very thorough check of the area.
Drive past at several times of day, esp on a Fri/Sat night. How close by is local boozer, drop in there so see the sort of people who live locally. Enquire about neighbouring houses being rented out. See how many houses in street still have cars outside during the day, suggesting lot of unwaged. Is the house on a route kiddies use to get to local school. Any nearby houses in poor state of repair or with overgrown gardens. Any neighbours with trees/leylandii growing. Try and catch the PCSO for a word about local issues/anti-social behaviour. Can you hear barking dogs.
Not always the case though. People may be lucky and have good transport links or walk to work. Two car family. Part time workers. Mine is outside on workdays.
And don't forget to quiz about the neighbours if you have not done so already.Back on the trains again!0 -

Never dont buy a house because the bed wont fit unless the bed is a family heirloom (in which case it will be small anyway as they were).

July challenge £50 a day. £ 1682.50/1550
October challenge £100 a day. £385/£31000 -

I wasn't suggesting not to buy a house because your bedroom furniture might not fit upstairs but it's worth checking the access otherwise you can end up with having to live with your beds and wardrobes cluttering up downstairs until you can get rid of them and buy new ones.0
