24 month contract?

My current landline contract has expired, with no deal i am paying £30pm phone+broadband.

I phoned up Plusnet for a deal, the only good deal retentions could do for me is £21.49 on a 24 month contract.

I have always been wary of long contracts, but in my area there is limited providers, BT line only so limited for deals.

What do people think of 24 month landline contracts?

    1) your contract has not expired, only your minimum term, so it carries on until you cancel or change.

    2) a replacement contract will never be fixed term but ongoing. If it is already working then any other firm will be happy to take your business but the minimum term required will be anything from 18 to 24 months.

OFCOM feels this s unfair, and AIUI making companies drop this to a more reasonable minimum of 12 months. It might be better to hold off until this is promoted as a selling point, which it surely will.

    Thanks

Any idea when that selling point will start to happen?

You'll notice it when it starts, believe me! Sit tight, as you'll be on a 30 day notice period after the minimum term ends, so be in pole position to switch when it happens!

Perhaps Buzby would care to show us some evidence that Ofcom are going to reduce contract terms to 12 months As this will no doubt be news to Landline and Mobile Suppliers.

Plusnet already do 12 month minimum terms. It's just that like anything else then the longer that you are willing to commit then the cheaper it gets.
