Can anyone tell me if a person can claim carers allowance for helping someone who is in receipt of Pension Credit please?

If they are in receipt of middle or high rate DLA, or higher rate Attendance Allowance, then yes.
But, if they live alone, they may lose some premiums if someone starts to receive CA in respect of them.
You can check out the scenarios on the calculator on: Turn2us website.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

Or PIP at the appropriate rate.0

The person you care for could lose the severe disability premium in their income-related benefit or the addition for severe disability in their Pension Credit. If you only have an underlying entitlement to Carer's Allowance and are not actually paid it, this will not affect the benefits of the person you care for.0

Yes, I was just assuming that as PIP is pretty new, any pensioner would be on either DLA, claimed previously, or AA.
But, yes, same rules apply.

The person needing caring for is on a pension, in receipt of attendance allowance and pension credit. Not DLA or PIP. Can't make head nor tail of the websites I've been looking at.
I did read somewhere that the person needing caring for could lose council tax benefit and housing benefit and lose their pension credit if the carer applied for carers allowance....0 -
If someone who is already in receipt of Pension Credit and they are awarded AA they should automatically receive a form IS10 from DWP which basically asks (amongst other things) if someone is getting or waiting to hear on a claim for CA for looking after them, therefore being ineligible to claim the addition for severe disability on their Pension Credit.
Have a look here also:
https://www.gov.uk/carers-allowance/what-youll-get
- the section 'Effects on the benefits of the person you care for'
Non rent paying adults (ie a son or daughter - maybe the CA claimant for example) are only disregarded for the purposes of council tax benefit calculations (thereby not affecting the claimants council tax benefit) if the person claiming is in receipt of Attendance Allowance or PIP living component, DLA care component or is blind. Presumably if they are not (but in receipt of Pension Credit say) then their council tax benefit may be reduced.0 -

Called a PC10 (not an IS10) for pension credit purposes

Yes, my mistake it is PC10, I was looking at the cover letter which is IS10.0

no wonder people don't apply for what they think they may be entitled to. I'm still non the wiser - it's probably me, a bit thick to say the least. I only asked because Age UK said not to bother applying but gave no real reason0 -
well I'm pink eyed here! I have come to the conclusion that I am indeed as thick as poop - but I'm also absolutely convinced the Governments deliberately make things so complicated that you dare not apply for any extra benefits for fear of ending up in a worse situation.
I've looked at loads of sites and I'm still none the wiser regarding claiming for carers allowance.0
