Thanks for this advice, as said he's seeing a benefits specialist tomorrow so hopefully he'll be able to give them all the necessary information for them to see what is actually owed. Depending on how that goes and whether he feels up to talking about it, I may have some additional info later in the day, but I have passed on all the info here, so thanks again.0

Do make sure that he takes all his bank statements for the relevant period showing his income and all letters detailing his benefits during this time. In fact, any paperwork that might be relevant - better to have too much than not enough!0
