You sure about that? It seems to me that two people could live together without opening any joint accounts and no such association will exist.

Yes - because it is easy to make a false declaration and where one pre-existed previously, you think they'll take your word for it? They're not fools, and will guard their data collection practices rather than take spurious info on trust.

Experian even has a box on its notice of disassociation form that says:

"If you LIVE at the same address tick the box to indicate that you keep your finances seperate."

So it's certainly possible to keep your finances separate whilst living together.

A financial link is OK if one of you is on a DMP, the other one can still get credit but it certainly has a minor effect on your credit rating (the odd decline, less than optimum interest rate, higher insurance premium etc). I'd definitely close anything that isn't absolutely necessary and inform the CRAs you are no longer linked.

It is a risk. If you are still a partner, the expectation is that you will have links, so if you declare disassociation and they are suspicious, you will be hit with a CIFAS flag and this could be worse.

    No. It's complete nonsense.
