The gameover thread for L'Oreal men which was get on twitter at 11am and answer the 5 questions they put up in one tweet with the hashtag #beardquiz. First person who gets it wins £250 in high street shopping vouchers. I was the first, and they gave it to someone else. I tweeted them and he said it's because I didn't put their handle before the hashtag but they didn't state you had to do that, and they followed me before I even messaged them so they must have acknowledged my competition tweet. I got a DM from them saying their sorry they didn't make it clearer and that they'd send me some goodies but it's not £250 and I'm not happy. Is there anything I can do. Am I in my rights to be upset about this?

Are you Caffanova on Twitter? If you are I agree you should have won the 1st prize, their own terms and conditions say that you only have to have #beardquiz in your tweet along with the 5 correct answers and you were clearly the first person to answer.ITV Winners Club #87 :eek:0

Yes I am caffanova
Yeh and the fact they said "everyone with correct answers will be followed", and I was followed before I asked them about the prize. What should I do Debs?

Have you taken a screenshot of their terms? If not then you need to that before anything else or they may get rid of them0

There's this in the terms:
In order to enter, entrants must tweet all 5 correct answers to the Beard Quiz along with the hashtag #beardquiz in a single tweet. The first tweet received with all answers
and the hashtag after the questions are posted at 11am on 07/03/2014 will win.
But there's also:
incomplete, illegal, misdirected or late entries will not be accepted. Proof of tweeting will not be accepted as proof of receipt if the entrant’s tweet doesn’t appear on the promoter’s @lorealmenexpert address.
Does that cancel out what I'm saying?0 -
I thought #7 just meant I had to have them followed as a requirement for the competition?
Edit: Nvm, I guess I'll always remember to throw in the Handle address from now on even if the competition doesn't mention it.0 -

I certainly wouldn't have thought to have added the @etc, wouldn't have taken much for them to have made it clear by adding the requirement to their competition tweet.
As they have admitted it is unclear (putting it mildly) they presumably will do it in future.0 -
You could complain to the IPM
http://www.theipm.org.uk/best-practice/consumer-complaints.aspx
or wait to see what they send you before taking it any further.0 -
I wouldn't give up on it . They have admitted that it is unclear so are admitting they are at fault so I would message them again and point out their terms don't mention having to do that and you read them before entering and tell them that you feel hard done by and have no option but to report it. In a very polite and pleasant way of course.0

If they followed you back I'd say that's an acknowledgement of receiving your tweet and therefore your entry. They must have seen the hashtag to have read it. I'd definitely keep on at them.
