Been narrowing down tthe search for a 40 in quality HDTV.Sony make a lot of different models in the Bravia range.Heard a suspicion they had faults but maybe they are now sorted,as i have also read good reports about them too.

Can anyone give me their opinion before we go out and purchase?.Also what would be a good company to deal with online as prices are so much better but what if something goes wrong?Good and bad,i would very much appreciate some feedback. Thanks!!

Can I suggest you have a look here?

    http://www.avforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=155

These guys seem to really know their stuff and go into things a lot more than maybe ordinary joe would.

I've been browsing there for a while as we are considering a new Sony tv. It's been useful to see the points they've made and the issues they've highlighted. Mind you....I haven't got a clue about some of the things they talk about but I understand enough to get whether the tv is good or bad, lol.

They also talk about price matching and where's best to buy.

(There's also a particular forum there just for Sony owners, amongst others, so might be worth having a read of that too?)

Yep i have the Sony Bravia KDL40W2000. Great bit of kit. Try and get John Lewis to price match AV Forums is also useful for that. It won't be quite the cheapest price BUT you will get the 5 Year guarantee included which is worth a lot.

    Good luck.

    I've got the KDL32V2000.
It's the best TV I've ever seen. The upscaling for the standard def pictures is excellent, very hard to see the difference between that and the high-def picture.

    Recently got a 40W2000.

Was initially looking at the 40X2000 but couldn't justify the price difference for the few extra features.

Got the screen from John Lewis using the price match and free 5yr guarantee.

There is a known problem with the W series in particular (presumably due to quality control) causing an uneven colouring or clouding on the panel. This is most noticeable on dark scenes and you can test by turning the TV to AV1 in a dark room.

We had to get the screen swapped twice before we got one without the clouding. But it really is a great screen when working. Crisp picture on all sources.

Was going to buy either a 46w2000 or a 46x2000 but was advised to wait till the w/x3000 series comes in the autumn, I agreed after seeing the d3000 picture awesome.

I have a 46W2000 and am very happy with it. Best TV I ever had. However, what is the difference with the impending W3000?

i have a 40v2500...nice telly...but when the Sky search and scan banner is up, occasionally the picture starts jerking. i have no idea why, this is also prevalent when there is some sort of banner of text scrolling along the screen.

other than that, its nice...i wanted a W series...but its just too much more money...and surely there cant be that much difference between 1080 and 768 lines...also most shows downloaded online are in 720p which i spose would look better on a 768 line panel compared to a 1080 line panel.

Another plus is the motionflow, the sony guy did a demonstration on the d3000 and told me to watch the person moving across the screen (it was the robot waitress from the stars wars film), he said usually you do not notice but the image blurs with the new system the image stays is a clear as a bell (so to speak).
