    Thanks guys!

Must admit my brain is a bit fuzzy at the moment - and not quite sure how I feel, that will probably kick in later! :o

Richard I think that is a great idea - i searched through every thread I could before I went BR to find out how other people had got on and did the same when I knew my OR appointment was due - infact I was still looking at midnight last night!

So to have all the info in one place would be ideal for anyone just about to start the process.

  • Brilliant news Jules, really pleased for you
The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter :(

So glad for you Jules - sounds very painless and thank you for sharing it with us, makes it feel a bit less scary for those still to do the deed.

Excellent idea Richard, as these real life stories are so so helpful, and having them in one place helps you find both parts of the story and also t find someone in a similar position to yourself (whilst I recognise that no one is the same, who else has looked for a story with someone in the sameish amount of debt, in the same relationship/child status/part of the country etc etc....)
Do not feed the trolls please.

Thank you to everyone for their kind words.

Had a mammoth fairy cake baking afternoon with my four year old this afternoon - think he got more mixture on himself than in the cases - but for the first time in ages I could enjoy my time with him rather than always having my situation hanging over me!

It hasn't been easy over the last few months, and I have gone through every emotion you can think of tears, anger, guilt, blame - you name it, I had and got the t-shirt.

For anyone who is just starting that journey, and feels apprehensive about posting, please don't be shy, come and talk to us, we are a friendly bunch! :D

This forum is an invaluable source of information and support and has helped me get through the last few months.

So again, thanks to all who have kept me going.

See you in the pub later

Jules can I ask a question?

You said that your interview was an hour and half, what did they ask you? I'm quite worried about that TBH, I was assuming it would be half an hour tops.

I feel so ill with worrying this week, please tell me something nice.

Claire I really think the length of time will vary depending on the OR, my interview took 40 minutes, some took 30 and some more, try not to worry. Just have all your court paperwork with you when you have the interview so you can refer to that.

Jules well done, glad it went so well and happy to hear about the ED, no mention of that in my interview so the length of time spent was well worth it.

    Hi Claire

It really is nothing to worry about - but I didn't believe when the guys kept telling me before!

They will go through the petition you presented at court - which is why you have a copy given to you.

They confirm your details and ask whether anything has changed since it was presented as in dates, totals etc and if you have forgotten or missed any creditors.

Then they go through your creditors, loans etc asking, like with the loans what the money was used for, when you last used your credit cards and if there were any big purchases, going through what it was for - sounds scary but it really isn't.

They will ask - like they did on the form - why you think you have got to this point , and it seems you are well ahead on that score from the letter that you drafted, so you are doing good hun. :D

The reason it took longer for me is because I am self empolyed and she was asking some bits and pieces about what I did and trading etc plus we were having a chat about Reiki (complementary therapy) which is part of what I do.

So there is really nothing to worry about - you will get nervous, but that is called being human!

I had a spent the day before getting prepared with all my paperwork, and going through, dates etc and then laid it out on the table when she rang so I had it in front of me.

Tried to have an early night - but with a four year old that was not easy - and just tried to keep myself calm, again easier said then done.

Claire you will be fine, they are not there to catch you out just to try and understand the reasons behind it.

So hun, deep breath and relax, then big bar of yummy chocolate and a nice glass of wine - or cup of tea if that is your tipple :j

Jules thank you for that lovely post.

Sometimes I do wonder if I somehow stress myself out by sitting thinking about things to much. I'm not a very laid back person anyway and as I said in a post on another thread, I suffer with anxiety anyway so I'm finding it really difficult at the moment.

You say that they are not there to catch you out but in all honesty that is how is exactly what I feel they will be trying to do! Although there isn't anything to be caught out on so it's totally silly really. I've also got this idea in my head that their job is to try and get as much money out of you as possible by "disallowing" things on your SOA, I struggle at the moment paying payplan £90 a month so an IPA for £50 wouldnt be the end of the world (£40 in my pocket that I wouldn't have had) but still I keep worrying and thinking that they re going to take loads off me, which of course I know that they can't.

It's like I've got one rational side in my head and one side saying "yeah but what if.........??" and it seems the latter is working overtime at the moment.

I feel a bit silly really, I havn'e read any posts on here as of yet where anyone seems to be getting half as worked up as I am, I'm sure everyone does to a point but I (my rational side) feels that I'm getting this all out of proportion IYKWIM.

Anyway thanks again for taking the time to reply. X
