How much did you have left in savings after house purchase?

Erm not a lot...
Our house was in a reasonable condition when we bought it but I think because we rented for so long we were desperate to put our mark on our house so we've bought a new kitchen and the rooms address all being decorated (tbf its to get rid of the muck and dodgy diy the last owners left behind) so any money we had has all gone on this.
We got our 4 bed detached really cheap though (house across the road sold 4 months after we bought ours for 43k more) so we were very lucky.0 -
If our house purchase goes through then practically £0 but both with excellent credit ratings and also £0 balance on credit cards and reasonably good jobs. We will need to get some new furniture and white good plus there would be few jobs that would need doing too, so the plan is to get a new credit card with 0% for as poss...... Any purchases, an equivalent amount will be put into savings account which will act as an emergency fund until we'll get back on our feet again (yes, I'm scared!)0

We had exactly nothing after moving. I had worked out how much to keep in savings for stamp duty, solicitors, and removals and then we had no extra.
Moved in January and all we bought so far is a fridge. We still have lots of furniture to buy but as long as we have a bed to sleep on it will be okay to wait for the rest of the things.
But now we are trying to build up our emergency fund alongside buying the things we need for the house. I am saving £100 a month into the emergency fund and buying furniture etc bit by bit with anything left over.DFBX2016 #024
Target = £10804

We had a bit left over but then had to immediately spend it on a new boiler because the old one packed in within a day of moving into the new house. I then accumulated a bit of extra debt to buy things like curtains etc.0

I've recently completed on a property and I had about £26k left in savings, but as it was requiring complete renovation including electric, plumbing, central heading, windows, kitchen, bathdroom, full re-decoration it's likely. I`ll probably not have much savings left by the time I'm finished, but as I'm in no rush to move in (still living at home) I can spread the renovation out a little if funds get a bit tight.0

Had originally budgeted to have 4-5k left after moving etc., but of course our car packed in and all the small bits for the house have been mounting up, so probably going to end up with 2-3k in the end. So much for careful calculation and planning ...0

On the day we got our keys we probably still had about £2k in the bank
but that soon went on bills and furnishing, and far more was spend on credit cards0 -
I think we had about 3-4k left. I'm always surprised by friends who buy houses and seem to be able to afford to put in new kitchens, bathrooms etc straight away. It took us 2 years to get our bathroom done and 3 for the kitchen and both were funded with 0% credit cards that we squirrelled away payments for each month (we have offset mortgage so always prefer to keep money in our accounts for as long as possible!)0

I always planned to have at least £10k remaining once I complete on my flat purchase as I'm a contractor and could lose my job with only a weeks notice so need savings to fall back on in case that happens.
However as my purchase has been quite drawn out and I've gotten a cheaper place than I thought I would I'll have nearly £40k left over. There is some work I would like to do on the place as soon as possible so that will probably disappear quite quickly.Starting Mortgage Balance: £264,800 (8th Aug 2014)
Current Mortgage Balance: £269,750 (18th April 2016)0 -
We should have over £15,000 in savings after moving. We don't have to buy anything as we've been renting unfurnished for 2 years so have everything we need. Probably will spend some on making changes and additional furniture but keeping 10K minimum as emergency fund.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)
Savings target June 18 - £22,281.99 / £25,0000
