Thinking of getting one, under £10k. What do you think? What should I be aware of, I know some had a power steering problem but which models did this affect?

I've got the newer type made by BMW and love it. Fun to drive, practical and can get the dog in the boot as it is quite low. On the downside, they suffer with rattles, although mine is getting better as it ages strangely enough. The thing I really hate is the 6 gears as around town, I am always working the gears. Suppose an automatic will get round this.0

Power steering issues are older models. Clubman models all have EPS. Cooper S models use a lot of oil, and if run dry will stretch the timing chain giving a horrible rattle, which is normally lots of warning before it jumps or snaps. Other than that they're fairly standard and mostly reliable. Other than a few rattles etc0

Generally I think minis are Overpriced! You can get more for your money elsewhere. An opinion is just that..... An opinion0

i wanted one, there really isn't much space in the back. There is no fun factor in them either as they lose their nuppyness from the extra weight.0

More what?
I drive a Cooper S - I could have got a lot of different cars for the money BUT I WANTED a Mini.
The OP was asking for advice about the model and any known faults - not an opinion on price.

OP - have a look at this site - there are tabs at the top of the report for more info about models etc. happy hunting.:hello:0 -
With yet another "new" MINI now being launched (longer, taller and wider!), the notion of it being an aspirational car that will fly off the shelves is pretty much dead in the water. New editions mean older models fall down a notch in the desirability ratchet.
There are build problems, there are issues with steering, gearboxes and engines on the current brood but the good news is that there are thousands to choose from. If you really want one, sign up with a MINI forum and prepare your checklist, you will be pleasantly surprised as to what you can get for that budget.0 -
Yes, however the BMW Clubman has the van doors of the Traveller and the rear passenger door of death. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
