I am claiming JSA, though should be signing off to start a new job soon.
Interestingly this is the second time I've been unable to produce my job search activity.
I don't know your situation but basically this reads like you have repeatedly failed to produce anything to show you are really going for jobs.

Why is that interesting? (sorry to sound facetious)

my laptop broke right at the time I was about to print off my job diary for my sign on appointment. A back up (on USB stick) also corrupted.at least it was something.
I wasn't there but it reads like you have more then once come in with loads of bull about computer/internet problems and someone has referred you for it.

As you are about to sign off and start the new job I really wouldn't worry about sanction stuff - they can't sanction you if you are not claiming JSA...
You do have the right to complain about your treatment - write to the Jobcentre manager.

My husband has been going to job centre since last July and has not once seen anyone else with paper in hand. He takes his job search record every time and I told him he better continue to as it's Sod's law the 1 time he forgets it or something they would sanction him

That's probably because most claimants have been manipulated in to believing that Universal Job Match is mandatory, and their job search is online where the 'job coach' can access it.

    I didn't think of that.

That's not the case, nor do I understand how you've taken that from my posts. If I've repatedly failed to produce anything to show I'm looking for jobs don't you think they have sanctioned me long ago?

I have produced a very detailed, eight to twelve page (A4) word processed document every time I have signed on, except on two occasions. The first time I used UJM (which they couldn't access, so I gave my evidence orally from memory) and the second time was the day of the techincal problems.
Why is that interesting? (sorry to sound facetious)

By "second time I've been able to produce my job search diary", I meant the second time I've been unable to produce something written.

It is interesting because the first time (when they couldn't access UJM) they allowed me to give my evidence orally as they should have done. They failed to allow me to do this the other week - hence the sanction which has now been overturned.
I wasn't there but it reads like you have more then once come in with loads of bull about computer/internet problems and someone has referred you for it.

No. Only once have I had computer problems and it wasn't "bull", they were genuine problems.

The point is they should have given me the opportunity to present my evidence orally (from memory) but failed to do give me this opportunity.
As you are about to sign off and start the new job I really wouldn't worry about sanction stuff - they can't sanction you if you are not claiming JSA...

Of course they can still sanction me. It's just that the sanction will be the final four weeks I'm on JSA. Even if I signed off before the four weeks ended I'm led to believe the sanction will also apply to post-JSA support (e.g. working tax credits).

But the sanction has not been overturned. This is the reason why I've bumped the thread after two weeks.

As explained in those posts I did try speaking with the customer service manager, with no real success. My priority has been to get the sanction overturned (so my recent communication has been with the DM, not the jobcentre).

That sounds like where you came a cropper. How many times have you signed on? Anyway signs like you are/have signed off.

Do you mean producing such a detailed job diary is an unwise thing to do?

If you mean when I couldn't present it, then of course I know that's where "I came a cropper". At least the second time. I didn't have it with me, manager was consulted and evidence collecting appointment made. But it remains that the jobcentre failed to take my dyspraxia into account and did not try and get my evidence orally as they should have done. They are in the wrong.

The first time, well before Christmas, was because I used UJ to record my evidence and they could not access my account. I was allowed to give an oral account then.

I'm still signed on, with sanction overturned, but should be signing off as soon as start the new job. I may sign off early.

This thread was made a few weeks ago immediately after the evidence collecting appointment was made.
  • Good that it's been overturned.
  • Send them an FOI to find out

just wanted to congratulate you on your new job. Sounds as if you have had an awful time.

Much respect to you. My 7 year old son has severe dyspraxia- it does make life harder. You are clearly an articulate & intelligent man (as Is my son) which makes it a hidden disability- but still a very real one.

    Good luck x
