...and feeling more lost this week than ever before
.
The car loan was the 1st to go last week and it feels good to know that it's OURS, no-one can touch it and that's over £100 a month can be paid off on the 1st CC, BUT I've had 3 DDs bounce this week and I'm struggling with juggling all the different bank accounts. I think this week was almost like, yes the car is gone I can relax, and then didn't check the accounts and move the money about into the correct ones. My own fault for taking my eye off the ball, but argh I want it to be over now and just want to be able to forget about it and let the money deal with itself, even if just for a month.

Congrats on paying off the car loan!! That's great news :j
We all have little glitches with our plans, it's nothing to feel upset about. It's easily rectified and i'm sure you've already done what's needed to get back on track
. The car loan is a biggie so it's great that you've got to the end of that one! You should be really pleased with that and it's natural that you might forget to transfer monies etc on the back of that relief.
Keep calm and carry on!! (As they say!) CC#1 here you come
It all takes time and time is money,
money talks and talk is cheap.

Thanks Cassman
. I think we all need a little bit of reassurance from time to time. Just got to keep telling myself that I am on the right track, it's all headed in the right direction, £638 paid off since Jan. Hi Hermy
(imagine Miss Piggy saying Kermy LOL)
Big congrats on the car! That's awesome and must be a weight off
How many accounts do you actually have though to need to juggle money to pay your DD's? Can you not have a single account to make life easier then your money will (sort of) manage itself?
Anyhoo, I just wanted to say congrats!

Current account wise there are 4 in total! Sounds a lot but that's 2 each for me & DH. Plus there are a couple of savings accounts that are sitting dormant really as I don't want to close them as once the debt is all paid I will be using these for putting money aside.
DH has his main account that he uses for wages and a couple of DDs plus an old account that is overdrawn. That's the lowest interest rate of all our debts (except a couple of 0% ones) so is our lowest priority. I use it as a sort of storage account so each week money is paid in until the rent is due then that keeps rent money separate from everything else and keeps the bank happy that there are regular payments into the account. Once the o/d has gone so will that account.
Then I have 2 accounts, one is an old account that just has HB paid into it, I haven't given the council my new bank details only because I don't want the claim to be suspended for goodness knows how long while they look at our bank accounts. (Last time it was 8 months:eek:) My other account is my main one, which I had to take out as after Natwest changed the terms on the account it became pretty much useless to me. This has everything else going into it - my wages, tax credits and child benefit plus the majority of DDs come out of here.
Then when we're out I have to check the banking apps on my phone to see whether we need to use his card or mine! It's exhausting at times juggling money from account to account but next year we'll be able to have a joint account so then everything will just be going in and out of one account but at the moment I've still got defaults etc on my credit report but once the 6 years is up and they've dropped off then we can finally get joint credit so things will be so much easier.Clean credit file:12 mthsCar loan: FREE! :jTHE PLAN: 1.Pay off debt £8808.42(£3254.45, £1570.32, £2698.33, £0:dance:, £1000, £285.32) 2.Save monthly for Christmas/insurance etc £150 per month 3.Save for emergencies /£1500 4.Save for our B&B £????depends which one takes our fancy

LOL, ok I get it
it does sound like you have a plan at least so that's good.
I have to admit I have a couple of accounts, one which my wage goes into and another which I transfer money into for living expenses - it works for me and obviously does for you too so I can'f begrudge you of it LOL
Just in future be quicker! LOL but you're definitely on the right track :money:

Don't dwell on how much you still owe (I know it's not easy, especially when it's a lot), but rather concentrate on how much you have paid off.0

Back on it right now, hopefully this is my only slip up of the year.Bedsit_Bob wrote: »Don't dwell on how much you still owe (I know it's not easy, especially when it's a lot), but rather concentrate on how much you have paid off.
That's good advice and I will try but £600 is such a small amount compared to nearly £9000. Maybe once I'm over £1000 paid off it'll seem better as at least it'll be the same amount of numbers in it.Clean credit file:12 mthsCar loan: FREE!

Congratulations... you're doing awesome... don't let a small slip up get you down... learn from the mistake and keep going... you're in your stride now!LBM July 2011 - C/A -£2120 / CC1 £1000 / CC2 £1400 / Loan £3480 = Total debt £8000
April 2014 - C/A £0 / CC1 £0 / CC2 £0 / Loan £0 = Total debt £0
Current savings = £4065 & saved deposit to buy first house in November 2013 :j0 -
A year and a half on and still only the one debt gone (and now over £10K in debt:embarasse)
The one good thing is the debt CAN'T GO UP.
Little steps. Number one being get it under £10,000, which means £358.50 until we're at £9,999. With nothing left over at the end of the month I'm unable to make much more than a few pound in overpayments on the cards so it's not going to get there quickly but it WILL be there by Christmas. Then we'll see what the next target will be. I'm going to log my achievements here on a weekly basis to keep myself motivated because I'm the only one who sees my spreadsheets and I think I'll feel less like I'm battling it alone if other people can follow it too (and give me encouragement, need some cheerleaders
