Tesco Express!!

Good god, went into tesco express tonight after a few chocolate bars and discovered that upon walking in that over 3/4 of the confectionery isle was empty!

I work in retail myself (M&S) part time and know that on a Sunday a store often receives half the delivery it would on a Saturday and just less than it would on a Weekday but this is just redicious and its becoming a regular thing now on a weekend!.

I had the option of 1 cadbury bar, kit kats, mars bar along with a few other chocolate bars and sweets. The shelf was just full of empty spaces and boxes. It was not as if they was short staffed either - with most of the employees doing overtime due to college/school out!!

Its not just the chocolate section, on most nights it is impossible to even get your hands on a 2lt bottle of Diet Coke along with other products!

And to anyone who says 'shop elsewhere' - well its Sunday! there is only Tesco that is open!

Could it be that the supplies have been disrupted by the recent flooding? If the distribution warehouse is located somewhere like Sheffield or Doncaster I imagine it would effect the distribution chain.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Why is it all you seem to do is moan. If they have not got what you want then get somthing else. Its only chocolate. I wish the only thing i had to worry about at the moment was chocolate.

    1. It doesn't just happen with chocolate, that's just an example!
    2. Tesco are not providing the customer with a good shopping experience by providing empty shelfs!! - its useless to the customer. I hope tesco do rubbish on their mystery shop which im sure has a question about the availability of stock, ie are the shelfs full?

I SHOULD NOT have to go to another shop to buy a bar of chocolate. I wish TESCO would get their act together. Every day i log on here you cant pass by without reading a thread about how bad tesco are. Action has to be taken and word has to be spread. I shall be forwarding my email to www.tesco-complaint.blogspot.com

Exactly, so there's no need to put in much effort as there is no viable alternative.

Working part time in retail (M&S) - we are ALWAYS told the importance of having full shelfs = happy customers, great mystery shopper results = happy manager and more £££'s - obviously it seems that tesco cannot handle their distribution or the staff just cannot be bothered to get their shelfs full.

They're completely different kind of business's. Tescos will be high turnover, low margin. Tescos has a 5% gross profit vs sales, whats M&S's?

The higher the gross profit as a percentage vs sales the much easier it is for full shelves!

Not the first time you've complained about your local Tesco Express, is it?

Is this some kind of personal crusade?
    Gone ... or have I?

The other thing I find odd about this thread is the planning aspect.

My local is a spar. I never use it though.............because I know what I use and buy it at a supermarket. For example if you often buy a 2 litre bottle of diet coke and it seems you can never find it at your Tesco Express, why not plan and buy it befoe hand somewhere where you know you'll find it.

Chocolate is more often than not an impulse buy, did you actually leave where you live with the intention of buying one chocolate bar?
I SHOULD NOT have to go to another shop to buy a bar of chocolate.

Why? It is not the law that they have to sell chocolate. Consumers now for some reason think they have the right to dictate to a retailer, I'll tell you now, you don't! If they lose you custom well thats just business but how they go about running their business is nothing to do with you.
