I dont know if Cemap is anything like the diploma (RO exams), i took a different route to the norm.

If you do a mock exam it will tell you which parts you are not up to par, so you can concentrate on those areas more... it might be different for Cemap but that was what i did.

    Hi

Cemap 1 is hard, but it's meant to be!

I work as a cemap coordinator for one of the 'big banks', so know the material quite well (and also qualified myself).

With you being self funded I take it the practice tests are ones you have found on the internet or are they the official IFS ones? I would warn you off relying too much on past papers as the material has changed massively in the August update, especially for Cemap 1 unit 2. If you are in a position where you can pay for it (or if an employer may be willing to pay for it) you can get access to an online test system where you can do practice tests and mock exams to your hearts content, you do get to a stage where you remember the questions from doing previous tests, but the system is good initially as it breaks down your results and shows you which areas you need to work on.

Personally I would continue making notes as no matter how smart you are there is no way you will remember everything in the book, and I'd personally spend a bit more time learning and pass first time rather than rush it and potentially fail.

Time wise everyone takes a different amount of time to be ready for the exam, if I recall I had my exam about five-six weeks after getting the book, and that was with working 45 hours plus a week and having a two year old to look after, managed to pass all three exams first time round with a distinction in them all so it can be done!

Sorry that's five to six weeks for cemap 1, then about another month for cemap 2 and 3 (sat one day apart)
  • hi all,
I have a question please. I want to start off with CeMap unit1. But I am not working in any financial firm. will that be a problem for me if I start with Cemap? Is it mandatory to work along with the studies or is it something I can do it on my own? please please I will appreciate your replies
