Used car - wanting to reject...

  • If they know the story they are probably wanting rid of the car and not get in between any legal dispute.

Personally I would tell the seller I would like a refund for the towing costs and any cost from garage too.

Send any mail recorded delivery. Or is it the other one? Signed-for?
  • I wouldnt always advise sending a "Signed For" letter, they have the right to refuse to sign for it, then claim they never took delivery of any letter

'only a dealer and not a mechanic'.
What a great line! Does he think that should get him out of something?
Is it OK for Tesco to sell horse burgers because they aren't chefs?
Is it OK for an estate agent to lie to you about a house because he's not a builder?
He still owes you the money back, and if he wants to find himself a mechanic that's up to him!

I got that line, they said contact the warranty company, which had a max claim of £250 and nothing was covered of the 13 faults found!
If faults occur straight away reject the car and request a full refund!

Very good point. I've done that before when I didn't want to receive a certain letter!

I really hope you don't pay half. This dealer probably knew there was something wrong with the car and was crooked enough to sell you. Get trading standards involve and threaten a lawsuit, he'll quickly run home with his tale between his legs and get your money.

Can you be more specific as to what the faults are?

Are the garage wiling to write you a report stating it is not reasonable wear and tear and you have not damaged the vehicle through misuse or anything
