skoda servicing and maintanance plan cost

I've just bought a new skoda citigo and thought the servicing maintanance and tyres plan was a good idea to get as well. Now I'm starting to wonder,I'll be doing 20,000 miles a year and the plan costs £45 amonth over 41 months. That works out at £1800! for three and a half years. The car has to be serviced and maintained every year or 10,000 miles whichever comes first,so it'll be going in nearly every six months.
Whats the likely average cost of a new skoda sevice from a main dealer?
I think I'm allowed to cancel the plan within 14 days.Any knowlegable advice would be much appreciated.:)

Check here - you'll get the full price and the dealers best discounted price.

Don't forget you may well need a new set of tyres too.

Perhaps also brake discs / pads

    Two seconds with google found...

So £129 for 10k service, £249 for 20k. £45 for brake fluid after two years.

    Tyre prices...

41 months is an odd time period, is that definitely right?

The Camskill prices are perhaps a little misleading since they exclude fitting. Cost will depend on tyre size, but let's say £60 per tyre. Over 41 months and 68,000 miles you might need two replacement sets so that's ballpark £480. Taking that off the £1845 leaves £1365, or an average of £400 per year. So yes you probably are better off without the plan.

Does the plan include any necessary repairs for the MOT at 36 months? What is the warranty period?

Pointless getting a car that does 61mpg if you are going to pay £1,800 for a service plan which is worth nowhere near that (even with 2 sets of tyres!)

Cancel the service plan and just get it done as and when :)
  • I will let you into a little inside knowledge with service plans, this is an example but believe me you will be paying more for your servicing than walk-in non SP customers

If a service plan costs you £25pm you will accumulate £300per annum, going by the example service costs AdrianC found then the first year service would be £129,

Being on a service plan the dealer can see that you have accumulated £300 and that first year service which should cost £129 has been invoiced off (internally may I add) at £220, you will not get a copy of this invoice, you will get a breakdown of what is left and a schedule of the services the plan covers. Normally monetary figures are left out....apart from the ones you pay in

The garage makes a killing on these things, and as the plan comes to an end and if there is any reserves in the account they will be all used up on the final service which could mean you are paying 3 times as much.

Consumers never do the maths or ask for breakdowns of the costs, they are normally content that car is going to get serviced for the next 3 years for what seems like a small payment of £25 per mth.

Put the money in a savings account or ISA and use "as & when"
