Windows DVD Maker is an application included in Windows Vista Home Premium and Ultimate and Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate.

It is also downloadable but I'm not sure if it would be compatable with other operating systems. I use it with Windows 7 Professional and find it very easy to use.

Anybody worried about Open Candy could install the small free program called "Unchecky". It automatically unticks the options to install Open Candy programs.

    +1 for "Unchecky".

    Link here.

Thanks for replies. Well I have installed ashampoo software, haven't had time to try it yet.

Hope it doesn't show the same writing error as nero did about can't burn end of disk at once.

Anyone got recommendations for blank dvd media?

many thanks for all the great advice to everyone.

http://www.burnaware.com/features/ Just make sure you get the free version. You can also untick the 'Finalise disk' option if you want to be able to add data later - as in if you run a Linux distro from a DVD and want to save session changes. Just a thought - Did you try using a slower burn speed to see if it fixed the problem? As for DVD blanks - I have used Tesco DVD-RW with no noticable problems, but I don't do a great deal of burning.
You can lose a loose goose.
You cannot loose a lose goose.
Get it? Now use it before you lose it.
    or - Try
using it - not losing it. ;)
