Now some of you are going to say 'Well he would say that, wouldn't he?' Others might say that they can do all the servicing themselves and they are quite entitled to do so. But cars today have so much advanced technology that DIY is a risk.

    Read the Service Manual.

Quite a few cars nowadays don't have a service or maintenance manual available to the user, unless they search the internet and can find copies of the official one used by dealers.

If there is a Haynes manual - which there might not be - they really aren't much good any more for some jobs. Change the fog light bulbs? Take it to the main dealer, they say. Clean/service the EGR system? It's a mystery.

Some bulbs in cars today need a major strip down to get to them, and will a DIYer know the kick they will get if they start messing with xenon circuit
    Doubt it

I have a Haynes manual for my car. Personally I find it incredibly confusing; YouTube is so much easier as you can see far more context and importantly for some jobs - colour - to understand what needs doing. Shame Haynes haven't moved forward (maybe they have?) to have videos of the tasks detailed.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
