Windows 8.1 upgrade?

I am looking at getting a new desktop pc (probably without monitor as I already have one - not a touchscreen type).
I am a Keyboard and Mouse user and have put off getting Windows 8 because I hate the format.
I have just read off the internet that Microsoft is due to, or has already released Windows 8 to cater for keyboard and mouse users like myself.
Does anyone know if this is already out as "Windows 8.1" or is there due to be a new "Windows 8.1 Update 1" out soon.
If this is already out as "Windows 8.1", how user friendly is this version for keyboard users?
Thanks all

See multiple win 8 posts .
Use something like Classic Shell and you dont even know you have win 8 interface .
Win 8.1 update has been out for a fair while .0 -
Windows 8, 8.1 etc has (and always will) cater for mouse and keyboard. The traditional desktop is there to be used as normal.0

Thanks
Is this old or something due to come out in April this year?

Agreed.
I've recently got myself a new Notebook with Win 8 installed, and I couldn't get a feel for it.
Installed Classic Shell, and it's just like my Win 7 computer at work.
It's even got a proper Start Button.
Mind you, I cut my teeth on Win 3.1, so Win 8 was never going to sit well with me.

You can read the dates as well as us. Keyboard and mouse have always been there (which was your original question.) This update "is focused mostly on improving usability for mouse-and-keyboard users. "Wikikenkey wrote: »Thanks

Thanks I might just go for it and either wait for the update or install Classic Shell.
Would you say this is a good deal - Dell desktop - 8GB RAM, 1TB Hard Drive, £399.00 Windows 8.1?0 -
8.1 is available now. It fixes some things but not the most important ones.
8.1 Update 1 is due to available soon. It should fix a bit more but still not the vital ones: the Start menu will still not be back; Metro and its charms will still not have been killed off.
As others have said, one of the various third-party utilities will very largely sort out Windows 8. It seems unlikely that Microsoft will get everything mended until Windows 9."Such an enormous country, you realize when you cross it" - Jack Kerouac0 -

Not enough detail to say.
What's the processor? What speed?
DVD or Bluray Drive?
Sockets?
Wireless?
What software is included?
Oh and what do you intend using it for?
This one also has 8GB RAM, 1TB Hard Drive and Windows 8.1 , and is £60 cheaper.
